Re: My Hometown---Part 2 - Charlie B - 12-03-2012 Ed, great pictures, but don't forget to take shots from the other side of those billboards, those ads will be something to see in the coming years. I missed too many of them, but do have one of gas at 89 cents, and a new 78 Buick for $4395 or something like that Charlie Re: My Hometown---Part 2 - cn nutbar - 12-09-2012 Hello Everyone---a colourful combination down on Stuart St. Geeps steal the show at Kinnear Yard Re: My Hometown---Part 2 - cn nutbar - 12-14-2012 Hello again---I caught an interesting combination rolling through Bayview today Re: My Hometown---Part 2 - cn nutbar - 12-20-2012 Hello Everyone---lots of zeros this morning at Kinnear Yard as GP9 8200 passes AC44CW 9800 The 9800 led a sister heading east out of the yard while #8200 was part of a three unit consist of GP9's doing the yard switching Re: My Hometown---Part 2 - cn nutbar - 01-08-2013 Hello Everyone---I caught this westbound train heading through Kinnear Yard today. The locomotives were SD-40-2's,including SD40-2F #9014.I wish I could have got a clear shot of #9014 but the train was stopped and this was the best I could do. Re: My Hometown---Part 2 - Charlie B - 01-08-2013 Nice catch Ed, I sure hope you get another chance at it sometime soon. Charlie Re: My Hometown---Part 2 - cn nutbar - 01-12-2013 Hello Everyone---back in the early eighties my wife Sharon and I visited my brother Danny when he lived in Langley, British Columbia.Danny knew I was a train nut and through a mutual friend who worked for the Canadian Pacific,he arranged a tour of CP's yard in Vancouver.I found some photos of that memorable day---here's one of me in the cab of one of the newer SD40-2F locomotives---check out the number of this unit, look familiar ???---check my previous posting :o :o :o Re: My Hometown---Part 2 - Charlie B - 01-12-2013 Hi Ed, you need to make connections so you can remake that photo.... (I won't mention mustache or hair dye) Charlie Re: My Hometown---Part 2 - cn nutbar - 01-15-2013 Hello Everyone---a cold and sunny day here today,a good day for some railfanning.Things didn't start that well as I just missed an east-bound train heading out of Kinnear yard as I drove along Lawrence Rd.Maybe my luck would change as I headed out to Bayview---I spotted the tail end of a freight train sitting in the Stuart St. yard and hurried out to York Blvd---just in time. Next a quick stop at Laking Gardens and caught a westbound Via Heading home I stopped at Stuart St. again, there were some colourful covered hoppers that caught my eye---fresh from the National Steel Car Company heading to western Canada There was also a Raillink GP9 sitting in the yard My last stop was Kinnear yard, just in time to catch this west bound freight stopping for a crew change It turned out to be a pretty good day afterall Re: My Hometown---Part 2 - cn nutbar - 01-24-2013 Hello Everyone---it's been very cold the past few days, too cold for railfanning so I'm posting some shots taken a week or so ago.The first shot shows evidence of fire damage on lead unit 2673.Apparently CN is in no hurry to repaint the locomotive as I came across a picture of this diesel taken in Nov.2011 showing the same fire scars. Back at Kinnear Yard, some CP action at the east end of the yard. Re: My Hometown---Part 2 - BR60103 - 01-25-2013 CN 2673 are you sure that's not the North America map? Re: My Hometown---Part 2 - doctorwayne - 01-25-2013 BR60103 Wrote:CN 2673 are you sure that's not the North America map? You're right, David. The first time I saw the "map" paint scheme, I thought that the paint had peeled off, revealing grey primer. Here's a shot of another CN diesel showing the CN North America logo---I still think the 2673 has fire damage Re: My Hometown---Part 2 - cn nutbar - 02-16-2013 Hello Everyone---it's not that often that I get a chance to do some railfanning on Saturdays, but I had a couple of errands to run today so I thought I would bring my camera just in case I was near the tracks. As I was heading home,I decided to test my luck at Kinnear Yard---here's some of the action. Re: My Hometown---Part 2 - BR60103 - 02-16-2013 Boy, you can see the difference that reversing 2 digits made on that big red thing. |
