The U3A Northerns were built by Alco for the Grand Trunk Western Railway but were transferred to the Canadian National in the 40's and spent their remaining careers in Canada.#6309 was on permanent assignment on the Leetown Division

During the late 50's steam was quickly disappearing and many dedicated rail-fanners headed north to the Leetown Division to capture steam in all it's glory.Fans of Ian Wilson's latest book---'Speed Graphics and Steam 1958,Volume 1" may recognize a similiar scene on page 12
