PETER JUENGST(sumpter250) - Burial at Sea - ezdays - 12-19-2021 This was sent to me by Pete's daughter, Heather. Please take the time to view this service aboard ship. Pete spent his life in the service of our country and it is fitting that they honor him in this way. Pete was a friend to us all and went out of his way to visit those of us here that he could. It was a pleasure knowing him and he will be missed. It is also touching to know that members of the US Navy still take the time to do this. https://youtu.be/cj6sP84vly0 RE: PETER JUENGST(sumpter250) - Burial at Sea - Charlie B - 12-19-2021 Thanks for sharing Don. We all miss Pete and his models. The ceremony is a very humbling experience. RE: PETER JUENGST(sumpter250) - Burial at Sea - UP SD40-2 - 12-19-2021 Thanks for posting that Don, it was a good service, for a good Vet, among the many other things that Pete was. I didnt know Pete real well, but he was at many of the local train shows I would go to. Pete was ALWAYS very nice, and was super knowledgeable on so many things. I hope nobody finds this disrespectful, but to put a face with the name, here is how I always will remember Pete RE: PETER JUENGST(sumpter250) - Burial at Sea - ezdays - 12-19-2021 (12-19-2021, 01:49 PM)UP SD40-2 Wrote: I hope nobody finds this disrespectful, but to put a face with the name, here is how I always will remember Pete Not at all Deano, this is how I saw him back on 2003 when he and Ray M. came to visit us. RE: PETER JUENGST(sumpter250) - Burial at Sea - doctorwayne - 12-19-2021 Yes, a very moving service. I was happy to know Pete, even though it was mostly through the Forum, and a single 'phone conversation a few years back, when I called him on his birthday. It was nice to see the Navy's consideration of his final wish....rest in peace, Pete. Wayne RE: PETER JUENGST(sumpter250) - Burial at Sea - JaBear - 12-20-2021 I hadn't really thought about it, but it's good to see the USN keeping tradition. Though I only "knew" Pete through his kind words and encouragement on this Forum, I hope his family and friends took comfort from this fitting send off. Thanks for the link, Don. Craig the Bear. RE: PETER JUENGST(sumpter250) - Burial at Sea - bdw9535 - 12-20-2021 I also only knew Pete thru the forum. We had several discussions about boat modeling and his advise was always informative. May you have fair winds and following seas. Bruce RE: PETER JUENGST(sumpter250) - Burial at Sea - ezdays - 12-21-2021 Thanks everyone for your comments. I sent Pete's daughter a link to this thread along with one to the memorial thread. She has been keeping me updated of any changes the past few years and I'm sure everyone here would want to know as well. RE: PETER JUENGST(sumpter250) - Burial at Sea - ngauger - 12-22-2021 That's a wonderful tribute. Thanks for posting. I spoke with him once, many years ago at a local train show. |
