What era are you modeling? I think those Cats are models of equipment built in the 1930's or 40's. Anything built in the 1960's or later would have enclosed cabs on the grader and a roll cage on the tractor. Caterpiller tractors are able to climb up hills so steep that they will roll ove, so all of the new ones have roll cages.

I searched the Internet and found this : - In 1963, Caterpillar offered his Model 12e grader without the cab. The 12e was an improvement of the 212 I have modeled. - The Caterpillar Track Loader 955h was offered at least to 1957 without the roll cage. I agree that the Caterpillar Grader 212 should have been ordered with the then optional cab as it would be used in Canada climate. If needed, Hewitt Equipment Ltd located in Quebec City could order one for this particular client. My layout, my story.
