Greetings, gang.

Cloudy ad 53. There was a brief sprinkle sometime overnight. Supposed to get to the upper 70s later.

Had a fun weekend. I really enjoyed the looks on everyone's faces when I walked into the monthly club meeting, given that the club is 260 miles away. It was fun to surprise everyone. Had a pleasant visit and got home yesterday afternoon. Today I need to make a grocery run to restock the cupboards. Then it's off to the gym to swim for a while. This afternoon I need to rake again. After all the high winds the yard is covered in a fresh herd of leaves.

Charlie - by coincidence the other day I saw one of the original Mavericks. It's currently painted in primer flat black. Would love to see it when finished.

All stay safe.

Greetings, gang.

44 going to maybe the low 60s under clear skies.

Decent day yesterday. To-do list completed but looking out my window right now it looks like I didn't do anything. The yard is covered in leaves again. At one point late yesterday afternoon it looked like a brown snowstorm. Lots of leave starting to come down now.

This morning nothing much is planned other than the usual trip to the gym. Tomorrow I'll need to haul away yesterday's harvest of leaves and if I get energetic I may go out and clean up the current batch.

All stay safe.

HUMP DAY 10/23/24
Hello Blue
Well I don't have very much "away" activity but try to help keep this forum going.
We have a stay-at-home day but tomorrow and Friday, out we go again.
No train news, our last shopping, eggs were down from 4 to 2 dollars so I bought some. Lowest gas price we saw was $3.02.
Weather for the day is some sun with a hi in the 60s

Good afternoon folks

It is 73 heading to 78 with no rain in the 10 day forecast. I think I heard that we have had no rain in the month of October.

I had to go to a deposition regarding the accident I was involved in back in July of 2022. It was long and tedious but overall, not too annoying. I have been in far worse ones for my old job. I guess now we will wait some more for the next step to happen which is the deposition of the guy who hit me.

On the train front I am still assembling kits in an effort to make a dent in the wall of kits on the workbench. Over the weekend I assembled another 10 kits. I also was able to run some trains. I need to do some cleaning up of the layout and organizing of some rolling stock.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Tom - I had to give a deposition for an accident during the COVID shutdown. It was done virtually and not too bad. It was annoying that is case was brought in the first place - but as a result I learned more about the accident/injury/insurance legal process. But, little did I know this experience would help me when I had to give deposition and trial testimony for work a few years later on some high-profile cases.

41 with maybe the upper 60s for the high. A slight chance of rain this evening, otherwise clear and dry for the next several days.

Decent day at the gym followed by leaf herding in the afternoon. This morning I need to make a grocery run and get rid of the leaves collected the last couple of days. At noon there's a talk being given at the library about the changes and progress since the shopping mall was torn down. New smaller stores, restaurants, and an event center have sprung up.

All stay safe.

Good morning good people, we are still flirting with triple digit temps, yesterday was 98 and we have 99 forecast for the weekend. No sign of rain, although they are talking about snow up north.

They have renovated all the Walmarts near me. It's a wonder that they did what they did during the nights. They removed all the tile flooring and polished the concrete, added taller shelves and moved everything around. So now if you actually find what you're looking for, it's probably too high on the shelves to reach. Note too that many stores including Walmart are going to electronic price tags. Now they can change the prices instantly on a whim... Remember when all product had a price tag on it? I remember a very long time ago going into a hardware store and a box of screws must have had six or eight price tags, one on top of the other. Thanks to technology, they no longer have to do that.

Speaking of pricing, I see a couple of stations near me are down to $2.99, must be getting close to elections....

Take care, enjoy the day, and stay safe and dry....

Clear and a little cool this morning at 29 degrees. Supposed to get to around 60 again with only light breezes.

Routine day yesterday. Trip to the gym followed by a grocery run. Also did some research on how to store the moped over the coming winter. Laundry this morning followed by college football. If it's like the game last week I'll probably be outside by half time cleaning leaves. No point in being humiliated again on national tv.

Gas was $2.92 when I was out yesterday. Any bets on whether gas starts going up again on Nov. 6th?

All stay safe.

SATURDAY 10/26/24
Sun at 42 degrees. Hi of 54 today.
Watching cartoons, waiting for the Buckeye game at noon. This evening the 2 big Michigan teams play each other. Neither team is very good this year so it could be interesting. I've watched some videos showing Halloween trains. fun but not my thing to own.

Good Saturday morning to ya all. Remember when Saturday morning meant cartoon time? From what I understand, some folks are against Donald Duck because he doesn't wear pants, and some of the older stuff because of the violence, yet some of the "cartoons" they're feeding kids now days is full of violence, sex and fantasy from start to finish.

Yesterday we hit a record 97, some TV weather folks say it could get to 100 today. By Tuesday, we're suppose to be in the mid-70's. It's chilly in the mornings, for some, 65 is jacket weather. My shooting buddy is back and we have picked Tuesday to go target shooting, let's hope their forecasts are close.

I got gas at Costco the other day for $2.99 and the next day, the station around the corner from me was at $2.99. I passed an Arco station yesterday on US60 that was $2.81 (cash) and $2.89 (credit). The closer we get to the election, the lower the gas prices will be.

I'm doing some ballasting and needed while glue. I was willing to pay around $25 for a gallon, but all Home Depot and Lowe's had was the yellow waterproof stuff. Went to Walmart and relented to buying a small bottle, but again, nothing. Went to the craft dep't and by golly, found a gallon of off-brand white glue for $6.00. I figured it would be watered down, but got it home and it was as thick as Elmer's and works every bit as good. It will work fine on some of my woodworking projects as well. And yes, it does dissolve with water after it's dry, which suites me well since I stink at ballasting.

Ya all have a great weekend.

Greetings, gang.

Another sunny day underway in the remote reaches of northern Iowa. Currently 37 with the upper 60s anticipated for later. 70s tomorrow and 80s on Tuesday before falling back on Wed. with normal fall temperatures beginning on Thursday.

Yesterday went much better than expected. The football game was close right up until the last minute and 16 seconds. An interception kill the possible winning drive. Much better than last week's humiliation. After that I got leaves collected and put some new shelves together in the workroom. Today is F1 at 1:30 and that should fill out the afternoon.

All stay safe.

Good morning folks

It is currently a chilly 53 going up to 61. We had a frost advisory last night so I had to cover the plants. Still no rain, however there is a chance next Tuesday. This will mean we went the entire month of October without any measurable rain.

The weekend in a nutshell:

Friday. Once I got home from work I added stress coat to the fish pond in preparation for adding water. Due to the fact we have had no rain in the Philadelphia area in all of October the water level was down about 10 inches. I continued on my rolling stock kit building rampage as I completed 5 kits.

Saturday. We ran errands to the post office and grocery store. I took care of some laundry and did some cleaning. I did some organizing of the storage for some of my rolling stock. I built another 4 kits.

Sunday. We didn’t do much. I added water to the fishpond and did some more laundry. I took a couple of things back to the Amazon return desk in Kohl’s. I tested a couple of new locomotives I recently got off eBay. I only built two kits. If I can, I will post pictures of the kits. Since I ran out of metal wheels, I temporarily had to use the plastic wheels on some cars.

Tonight I have some laundry to deal with. If the metal wheels arrive I will change out the temporary plastic wheels on the rolling stock I just finished. I may build another kit or two and/or run some trains.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Greetings, gang.

65 at the moment and the NWS has scheduled a high in the low 80s. On the weather agenda for tomorrow is a 90% chance of 1-2 inches of rain. If it does rain it will be the first rain since around the middle of September. Winds today expected to be in the neighborhood of 40 mph.

Another herd of leave rounded up yesterday which will need to be disposed of today. When I pulled in to the yard waste disposal site yesterday to get rid of the weekend herd the attendant asked if I wanted to buy some leaves. I was laughing so hard I had to stop writing on the sign in sheet. Nothing of earth shattering importance on the to-do list for today.

Gas was down again to $2.79 yesterday.

All stay safe.

Hello all -

Weather is cooling off, and I'm much more motivated to be productive.
Train-wise - I worked on re-organizing my workshop where my micro layouts reside. I remotored an old tyco GP20 that had a broken wire in the armature. I found a small can motor to fit in the same space. I also spent time re-configuring my 3x5 micro layout and creating a more level base than the shelving units it was previously sitting on.

Holidays are coming - and that means being constantly busy.

Take care all.
