Lots of Halloween in local stores...  A few local houses have decorated.

Happy National Cheeseburger Day, gang.

66 at the moment with a predicted high in the mid 80s. The summer weather will continue through Saturday. Starting Sunday temperatures are predicted to be in the upper 60s.

Pretty quiet day yesterday. When I went to the gym I discovered that the pool is closed while a motor is repaired. Current estimate is that it will be closed until at least tomorrow. Came home and rode the bike for a while instead. Not much planned for today.

I saw an article on line about National Cheeseburger Day. Seems a lot of places will sell a cheeseburger at a very low price as long as you buy it through their app. In other words it's a giant grab for your cell phone number. End of grumpy old man rant.

All stay safe.

Not like they don't have it anyway   Icon_rolleyes

I'm up to about 20 political calls/texts per day (and I am registered independent in hopes of avoiding this crud).  That has surpassed even the home flipper scam calls.

Greetings, gang.

A low grade thunderstorm underway in the remote reaches of northern Iowa this morning. More chances for rain throughout the day and continuing through the weekend.

I go the first new rope light installed around the track yesterday. Looks really cool and it has lasted all night. Once the ground dries put I will get the second one installed. On the to do list for today are a trip to Menards, Walmart, and a local grocery store for various items. Also need to take the first batch of leaves to the yard waste disposal site.

Kevin - I have received two spam calls on my cell phone in September and two in August. Prior to that my last junk call was in June. I've also received maybe a half dozen junk texts over the last year or so. One thing that helps me is that I still have a landline with caller id. Everyone gets that phone number (which is not able to receive texts). That eliminates a LOT of junk calls. $20 a month for the land line is cheap insurance for me.

All stay safe.

Good morning, no rain in the forecast, when they do have rain in the forecast (Sunday was suppose to be up to 80% chance) and it doesn't rain,, you know we're in for a dry week when they don't. We do have temps under 100 for a few days, but back to triple-digits next week.

I don't get any spam or political calls on my cell phone, probably because I don't use it to call very often, so not too many folks have that number. I do have a landline and I do get frequent spammers and scammers calling. I do have caller ID, but sometimes I do pick up the phone since dealing with a scammer is fun at times. They're going to "fix" my computer, my "grandson" or "granddaughter" is in trouble and needs big money, or there's one persistent bot that calls frequently to get me to donate to some police or sheriff's organization. It's kind of clever since the bot responds to what you say at first. My "grandson", who passed away a few years ago, called the other day and after some conversation needed $10,000 to get him out of jail. I said, "boy, you're cheap, the other guy wanted $20,000". He hung up.... Icon_lol

Have a great day, just be careful, it's crazy out there...

Greetings, gang.

Feels a little cool outside this morning. Currently 58 with 95% humidity making it feel damp and clammy. Supposed to get to the mid 80s today and tomorrow then on Sunday the high is only supposed to be in the low to mid 60s. Brrr.

Yesterday was fairly quiet. Ran some errands in the morning and rode the bike in the afternoon. Today I plan to try the gym again to see if the pool is repaired.

Gas price was exceptionally crazy yesterday. On Wed. it was $2.81. Yesterday it jumped to $3.19, an increase of almost 40 cents.

All stay safe.

FRIDAY 9/20/24
Hello Blue
We have overcast skies, high of low 80s for the day. My wife had PT this morning, they and the doctor say she is doing well. Gas was still at $3.29 most places. Club house is open tonight but I probably won't go. We stopped for breakfast this morning at a place outside of Walmart. So I did a quick in and out for some vitamins.

Our plan tomorrow is the Halton County Radial Railway aka Rockwood streetcar museum. They are celebrating their 70th anniversary.
Hwy 401, exit 312 (Guelph Line North)
Not sure if it rains.

Many years ago, my wife and I were riding and the conductor said "Welcome to Canada's second largest streetcar system." Not sure if tat still applies.
Exit 312 is 312 km or 3 hours east of the border at Detroit.

Greetings, gang.

68 going to maybe the mid 80s.  Chances for rain late this afternoon and evening.

Had a decent workout at the gym.  After lunch I was installing the second string of solar lights around the Backyard & Southern when I discover a manufacturing defect.  A quick trip to Harbor Freight and the problem was rectified.  I was busy watching football last night and didn't take a picture.  Maybe tonight.

I was talking to my son in Houston the other evening when he casually mentioned that he found a coral snake on his driveway.  Eek  This after having already had an alligator and a rattlesnake in his neighborhood. Eek    Like I'll ever go back for another visit!

All stay safe (and watch out for snakes and alligators!).

Nice day at the trolley museum. We managed 2 rides -- both on open car 527. Lots of books on the second hand shelves but lots of overlap with my collection. No rain while we were there.

Good morning all, I have to shake my head at mother nature. Here in the Phoenix area we're looking at temps over 100 today, and they are forecasting snow up in Colorado already.

Not much change here with gas pricing. They go up and down ten cents at a time now, but still well over $3.00 for regular. (Sam's Club is lowest at $3.18). I was going to buy some eggs at Walmart until I saw that extra large was going for $4.22 a dozen. I saw what I though was really cheap eggs in large quantities on their website, but what they were selling was empty, misprinted egg cartons.

Enjoy the weekend everyone, do something that fun to do.... 2285_

Happy Fall, gang.

Yep, it's the first day of fall and the temperature shows it. Currently 57 degrees outside my window. This after yesterday's high of 90. The NWS is claiming 70 for a high today but we'll see.

Fairly quiet day yesterday. I did get in a 7 mile bike ride along with my usual Saturday laundry. I was going to go out to take a picture of the new lights around the B & S but just before dark my granddaughter and a friend showed up. Very pleasant surprise. By the time they left it was too dark. Watched a somewhat entertaining F1 race this morning. This afternoon is football for one of the great-grandsons.

All stay safe.
