The Hobo Camp Fire Is going well #X.. Stop In!!!
Greetings, gang.

Not quite as cold as yesterday at 39 degrees. Supposed to get to the upper 70s by the end of the day.

Not much gong on around here. I did get a broken rail joiner repaired on the Backyard & Southern. Sunday I went to first communion for one of the grandsons and then to his football game in the afternoon. Yesterday was some grocery shopping. Today I need to gas up the car and get some money from the bank. Train show this weekend in Nebraska. I will be gone all weekend.

Gas was down to $2.79 yesterday so when I go to fill up the car today it will probably be over $3.00

All stay safe.

Good morning folks

It is a chilly 51 going up to 70 today.

Checking in early since we have a small concrete pour at 7 am this morning.

It has been a couple of wild days. We finally got my cousin who lives outside of Tampa evacuated. She has physical disabilities and some mental issues. At first she refused to go. She actually lives in Gibsonton which is on Tampa Bay in a trailer home. Where she is they are predicting a 10 to 12 foot storm surge which would put her trailer under water. It took my cousin in Connecticut and myself most of Monday to finally convince her she had to leave. My cousin from Connecticut who grew up with her and lived near here until a few yeas ago had to sic the county sheriff on her before she was convinced to leave. Yesterday was spent getting her transportation and a place to go. Luckily my Connecticut cousin’s father who lives near Orlando was able to get to her and take her and her cats back to his house.

Not a whole lot else got done the past two days. We were supposed to have a contractor visit yesterday to look at the wall damage in our bedroom and living room but he ghosted us.

Tonight, I have some laundry to do and straighten up. I hope to run some trains.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Good morning all, first of all just a prayer and a reminder that hurricane Milton is hitting the Florida gulf coast as we speak, the worse storm in history. I know of at least two people in its path.

As for here in the Arizona desert, high temps don't seem as bad when I think about what's going on in Florida, but we still are setting records every day. I think we've seen the last 110+ day for the year, we've had 70 of them, but still have a few more 100+ to go making it somewhere around 145 days. As for rain, we may see some towards the end of next week.

As for gas, we as seeing a rise right now, they'll blame the hurricane even though we get all our gas from the west coast. $3.17 is common.

I'm starting to work a bit on my "pick your poison" challenge. A bit late but something I had no control over. It's still slow going right now.

Have a great day, stay safe...

Hello Blue
Lower Michigan has sun this morning with a 1 day forecast in the 70s.
My only train news is a club meeting tomorrow. We did get sad news this week as a forum and York attendee passed away. A nice guy that was friends with everyone he met. He posted videos called Whistle Stop Wednesday. At our house, my wife is doing fine with her new knee and I have stitches in my forehead from the skin doctor where a thing, the cancer-causing kind, had been removed. Not sure what today might bring.

Greetings, gang.

Sunny and 79 but this is probably the last warm day of the season. Temps start falling tomorrow with highs only in the 50s next week.

I was supposed to be in Nebraska this weekend but still battling whatever this is. Dr. appointment at 3:30.

All stay safe.

Good evening folks

It has been a couple of busy and crazy days with a couple of predawn starts at work. I need to catch up on some sleep.

We caught the northern lights last night. They were very faint to the naked eye. The camera showed them clearer. Supposedly we can see them again tonight.

For the weekend we have some shopping to do. My wife and daughter are talking about going over to Swedesboro, NJ to pick sunflowers and zinnias on Saturday. If they do so I may head down to The Great Scale Model Train Show in Timonium, MD.

Sunday I will be running to the store to get whatever got missed on Saturday. There will be laundry. I hope to run some trains and build some rolling stock kits. I need to get the pile down somewhat. Perhaps I will work on the replacement station platforms.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Good Saturday morning to ya all. No Northern light watching here. (A) I forgot to look, (B) I'm not sure we could see them here if I did look, and © How did they know that would happen in the first place? Kind of like observing a speck in the sky and saying "that's star Abus-421A, only four million light years away". How do they know that it's exactly that far away, and if it's still there in the first place? Just makes you wonder, that's all...

I'm slowly starting to work on my last challenge, making fencing. I'll post something in a while, it's a bit more tedious than I thought, but it's giving me something to do while sitting down. I have a plan, and this is the start...

It's good that Mike has made it through hurricane Helene, I know a few that have survived Milton with minimal damage. Prayers still for everyone there, and for those in Washington, so they realize that Americans should come first when it comes to dishing out aid.

We went for a walk today beside the ION (streetcar) tracks in Kitchener-Waterloo today. I noticed at the crossings that the bells must be recordings. While they're running you hear regular bell sounds with die away, but the last bell cuts off abruptly.
Something to imitate on a model?

In model railroading, there are between six and two hundred ways of performing a given task.
Most modellers can get two of them to work.

The Catholic church in Wickenburg, Arizona use to play the bells from the bell tower at noon everyday. Very impressive and loud, the secret was that there were no bells, just a recording and loud speakers and that was 25 years ago.

Greetings, gang.

Very windy and 50 degrees outside my window this morning. Wind near 40 mph. Supposed to get to maybe 60 by this afternoon.

Interesting couple of days. I was supposed to go to Nebraska for the annual B.A.R.E train show. Wound up going to the doctor instead. I've been sleeping 8+ hours a night when normally I sleep about six. Also very hard dry cough and congestion. Doctor put me on 3 different medications and I'm doing much better this morning. After sleeping 9 hours Friday night I was able to get the laundry done and a batch of leaves herded off to the yard waste disposal site. After the wind today I'll probably need to clean the yard again tomorrow.

All stay safe (and healthy).

Good morning all. Tom, good to hear you're doing better. The crud has a way of sneaking up on you, I usually get it once a year. I'm hoping to get rid of what I have now to make room for the crud when it does show up. Waiting

Typical fall weekend, today is suppose to be the last day at over 100 for the year. Yeah, in the high 90's next week but that'll feel downright cool compared to this Summer.
Enjoy the day, relax, watch some football, play with some trains, do what you enjoy doing, it's your life... 2285_

Greeting, gang.

It's 37 at the moment under clear skies but it could go lower as it's on;y 3:30 AM. Supposed to get to around 60 later.

Not much occurred yesterday. Watched movies and read. Strategic Air Command is still a very good movie with some excellent aerial photography. I'm awake at this time of day due to the Prednisone I'm taking. Got a heads up from my daughter that this might occur. It also gave me a weird dream. I was in a parking lot downtown with some friends. One of the ladies had a birthday and I was going to give her a pineapple upside down cake. I needed to ride my moped a block away to get the cake Not sure how I was going to transport the cake back. Anyway, I got the cake back but was only going to give her a slice. Then I got to talking to someone else and came up with a name for my moped. I was going to call it Might Bike which is somewhat ironic as I used to work in a factory that made Mighty Dog dog food. Then the scene shifted to me talking to a long time neighbor (now deceased) who was submit my name to some government organization to show me what the results would be and listed me as dead. No idea what the organization was or why we were doing it.

Thanks, Don. Thanks to the drugs I'm recovering rapidly but the side effects are somewhat unsettling.

All stay safe.

Tom

Good morning good people, we might stay under 100 today, it'll be close. By Friday, we could be in the 70's and rain. It has rained twice in our neighborhood since March, a few sprinkles here and there  but a lot of what they call "Virga", rain that evaporates before it hits the ground. Anyway, we really had a hot summer and as of yesterday, we were still breaking records.

Tom, I understand side-affects. I'm taking pills now to counter the side-affects of other medicine I supposedly need. I was prescribed a new med a few weeks ago. I got just about all the side-affects without any relief. I was going to stop it until I read where you have to ween off of it, otherwise there are more serious side-affects. Fortunately, I wasn't taking it that long and the doctor says it was OK to stop. I see him this morning and just look forward to what else he has up his sleeve that will screw me up....

Enjoy the week everyone, stay safe and be happy... Icon_e_biggrin
