The Hobo Camp Fire Is going well #X.. Stop In!!!
Not much rain in the immediate future, some scheduled for a week from Saturday.
We had a small bit of rain overnight a few days ago.

It's amazing how many active wild fires there are now.

Good morning hobos. We have sun with a late afternoon high of 50 expected. I see Vegas got snow. Everybody that could stayed home.
No real excitement here but at least we have the whole week without doctor appointments.
A big accident this morning shut down both sides of the freeway between Toledo & Detroit.
Most of the leaves are down so I MIGHT chop them up one more time.

Greetings, gang.

40, cloudy, and a little breezy this morning with rain on the way. Maybe 5 degrees warmer is all it'll get around here.

I did get another batch of leaves cleaned up and hauled away. After lunch I put the plexiglass insert in the front screen door. Now I can run my trusty space heater and enjoy the porch for quite a while yet. The project was a little more difficult than usual. I wound up having to take off one of the sides and repairing the gasket. Somehow it had come out of position. It was deformed to the point that I had to super glue it back into position. Once that project was complete the insert went into position quite easily. So far the only item on the to-do list is a trip to the gym.

All stay safe.

Good morning everyone, cannot believe that we're halfway through November already. We are settling in on some decent temps, could get up to 84 today according to one TV weather lady, tomorrow though, in the low 70's. Still not bad, we're going target shooting so it should be pleasant.

No accounting how they decide to price gas. Costco here is $2.85, but about seven miles away, they're at $2.75, still not worth the time and cost just to save about $1.50.

I've been waiting for one of those major train shows to come back to the Phoenix area. They haven't been here in a very long time and I can only guess that they had a poor turnout based on the fact that they came here in the summer. Why not plan on a winter show when the weather is nice and all the older snowbirds are here? Just my practical thinking...

My long-time primary care doctor retired last year and I was a bit apprehensive about who would replace him. I've seen his replacement a few times already and I'm OK with him. I had a long visit with him yesterday and we just get along. His opinion is that I'm doing very well for someone my age and that wouldn't be so if I weren't as pro-active as I am. My numbers were all down in the decent or better range. I was checked out by my urologist the day before and I'm cleared for another year with him. When I start to feel my age, I go by a medical building and after seeing all those folks using walkers, wheelchairs and that need assistance getting there, I don't feel so bad anymore.

Take care, have a great day and stay out of trouble... Misngth

43 and cloudy at the moment but it's supposed to clear off later and get to maybe the low 50s. Got just over a half inch of rain yesterday in a slow drizzle/light rain. Just what we needed to replenish the soil before winter.

Absolutely nothing accomplished yesterday and it felt pretty darn good to just goof off all day. This morning a trip to the gym is planned. Not sure what is gong to be added this afternoon.

At 78 I consider myself very fortunate to be so healthy. It's primarily good genetics along with having had a moderately active working life. I had jobs that kept me physically active without being overly taxing or excessively demanding. Since I've retired I have taken up a few activities which I have (probably rather annoyingly) documented here over the years. I've had at least 5 primary care people over the last 14 years that i have actively seen medical people, starting with a dog bite in 2010. I actually had one PCP ask me if I was seeking medical care somewhere else since it was so long between visits.

All stay safe ( and healthy).

Fun time with all the holiday shows coming up.

Greetings, gang.

Visibility is down to about a block here in the remote wastelands of northern Iowa. 33 at the moment with a projected high in the low 50s with the fog burning off by mid morning.

Yesterday was pretty routine with a trip to the gym and later a trip to the grocery store. Speaking of groceries, eggs were $4.49 yesterday. This morning will be another trip to the gym and leaf herding this afternoon.

Gas was back down to $2.58 yesterday afternoon.

All stay safe.

Good morning

It is a crisp 46 going up to 56. No rain in the forecast until next Thursday. As a result, we will have a Red Flag Warning for the weekend. I saw that New Jersey declared a drought emergency.

This past week was pretty mundane with not much happening in the evening. I did finish getting all the Halloween decorations into their respective bins. I am getting used to my new phone. I ordered an unlocked phone off of Amazon and moved the Simm card from my old phone into it. The old phone was almost 4 years old and would hold the charging cord in the slot so charging it was getting to be a challenge.

I worked on assembling some Accurail kits. I screwed up one so bad I had to order a new floor assembly from Accurail. Somehow, I managed to order the wrong set of number decals from Accurail so I need to now order the correct set.

Not sure what is planned domestically this weekend. My wife and I are going to get our flu shots. We may need to do a small grocery store run. There is plenty of laundry to do. We probably should start bringing in the potted plants for the winter. We can’t do much Thanksgiving decorations as we are waiting for the painters to repair and paint the living room and master bedroom walls. They are hoping to make it in at the end of next week.

On the modeling front I will continue assembling Accurail kits since metal wheels and Kadee couplers arrived yesterday. I also will be renumbering some of the cars. I am hoping to run some trains eventually this weekend.

I hope everybody has a good day.

43 going to maybe the low 50s again but with 30 mph winds.

Gm was routine but no leaf herding yesterday due to laziness. None today either with the high winds predicted. Basketball games at 9 and 10. After lunch I will get the oil changed. Then football at 3. That should close out my Saturday activities.

Gas dropped again yesterday to $2.54.

All stay safe.

Good morning all, it's Saturday and I defied the stay-awake boogeyman and got almost two extra hours of sleep. Was a bit tired, we did go out target shooting yesterday. Had a great time, weather was nice, no bugs and best of all, we were hitting the targets pretty well. The last time out, we had a lot of guns jamming. Turns out, a long hot summer dried to oil out of all the guns. I re-oiled them all and this time, they all shot well.

Temps in the 70's yesterday, down into the low 60's today which means it's snowing up north and we get the northern winds. It could even rain a bit today. We're suppose to be back into the 80's by late next week.

Sam's Club down to $2.76 for regular, most others holding fast at $2.99. We have Walmart building a station not far from my house. I suspect that they're going to be competitive. A new 7/11 opened a few weeks ago, their gala "grand opening" pricing.... $3.05. Bah, humbug

Bough a pound of bacon and a dozen eggs the other day, immediately went to the bank and put them in a refrigerated safety deposit box. I can withdraw from them as needed.

Enjoy the weekend everyone, have fun but stay safe...

Hello Blue
3rd day of cloudy. High of 54 today.
Got tired of the yappy TV, got Chet Atkins playing, and yes on a record player. I watched the Buckeyes win yesterday now we will see what the Lions can do today.
No train news. Didn't even go to the club house this week, well, actually I forgot till it was too late to bother. Took a look at CTT & HO forum the other day, seems they are on life support.

Greetings, gang.

The temperature is rising rather rapidly this morning. It's gone up 5 degrees in the hour I've been up. Currently 42 going to the upper 50s with quite a bit of rain today and tonight. Could get close to 2 inches by the time it's all over.

Saturday I got the oil changed on the car but had a minor brain failure event. After putting in the new oil I couldn't find the oil filler cap. Searched the engine well as much as I could and finally gave up. Went to the auto parts store and they actually had a new one in stock. Got home and saw the old cap about 15 feet away on the sidewalk. Some very strong winds on Saturday (over 35 mph per the NWS).

Yesterday I cleaned up leaves for maybe the next to the last time this season. Probably one more time, mostly on the east side of the house where a couple of maple trees like to hang on to their leaves until everything else is done. First thing this morning I want to get rid of yesterday's herd before the rain hits. Tomorrow I'll be putting the moped in storage for the winter.

Gas is continuing to drop. Most around $2.53 but I saw a couple yesterday at $2.49.

All stay safe.

Good Morning All,

Well these past 2 weeks have been a stressful one for us here at home. On the 5th I ended up hitting a deer going 55 mph at night. I didn't see the deer until it was at the very last second because she came out from between 2 buildings. We are still fighting with the insurance over the vehicle getting fixed because they are saying the quote to get it fixed is to high and them not wanting to pay for a rental. So it's a bunch of back and forth between the collision shop, us and the insurance. It's just one big headache on our end.

Then last week my fiance went in for surgery ( woman things ) and has been off work since the 12th but we are hopeful she will go back to work on the 27th after her appointment or at least the following Monday. This surgery we didn't want to put off any further because it was starting to cause some health problems for her. She is doing much better now and is feeling a lot better, which is a good thing.

On a lighter and much better note, since the cold weather is finally arriving and I can't do to much stuff outside, I started once again working on the C&I equipment. I have done a ton more research over the summer and talked with family that worked at Bethlehem Mine #33 in Ebensburg, Pa. My aunt sent me some pictures from that my uncle has when he worked there. So that's a big help. I'm hoping at least over the winter I can start on the track plan for at least the Mine 33 section of the layout.

Well off I go for the day. Hope you all have a great day today. Take care.
Matt
I can smell a steam post ten blocks away and when I do clear the tracks because the steam express will be hi ballin through

Good morning folks

It is 58 and heading up to 65. We have a coupe more mild days and then the high temperatures fall into the low 50’s and 40’s. We might get some rain on Thursday and Friday. I am surprised we are not under some sort of drought watch or warning yet.

Saturday the wife and I went and got our flu shots. Afterwards we went to Kohl’s to drop off an Amazon return. She wanted to stop at Lane Bryant but getting into the shopping center was a complete foul up. We managed to get into the center without getting hit but instead of parking we just continued on to the back entrance as we both decided we had enough of the insanity of the parking lot. We then got my car washed. Working on a construction site getting the car washed on the weekend is a necessity. Sunday my wife and daughter went to Target, and I stayed home to do some heavy duty cleaning of the living room floor as it was that time of year. I got a couple loads of laundry done.

The eleven L&NE Bowser covered hoppers have proven to be a challenge. After dealing with the rear wheels of the trucks rubbing against a part and having to remove a portion of said part I discovered the front wheels of the truck were rubbing against the body. The problem was the trucks were too loose. I added a couple of Kadee red washers and that took care of the problem. Now all eleven covered hoppers run smoothly. I tested my new NYO&W Rapido GE 44 tonner and ran it for a couple of hours to give it a proper shakedown. I assembled a few more Accurail kits and I renumbered two Accurail Oscar Meyers steel reefers.

My wife just informed me the power is out so that means tonight I will need to reset the timers for the outside lights. I might start bringing in some of the potted plants. I hope to run some trains and assemble a couple kits.

Matt glad to hear your fiancé is doing better and I hope for a speedy full recovery. Sorry to hear about the car but at least you were not hurt. I hate dealing with insurance companies.

I hope everybody has a good day.
