Greetings, gang.
Sunny and cool at 31 degrees with winds at 25+ mph. Maybe the mid 40s today and then the mid 70s tomorrow. Possibly more snow mid week.
Quiet day yesterday until late afternoon. Then dancing started in Denver. I watched on line along with several other family members. Dancing didn't get over until almost 11 Central time. This morning I watched an entertaining F1 race. Looks like this could be a very competitive season.
All stay safe.

Good afternoon folks
It is 64 heading up to 67. Like Mikey said another storm coming. We are under a Wind Advisory. Just what we need more high winds.
Having issues running trains with locomotives acting up. Spent half the night diagnosing the problem. Thanks to Mike and Charlie have a few ideas.
Got some errands to run later.
I hope everybody has a good day.

We were supposed to have big rain yesterday evening and overnight and more today. This morning there was cloud but no downpour. We decided to go to a railway show and there was a bit of sprinkle on the windshield -- not enough to even keep the wipers on intermittent. Also went for a dozen of my favourite muffins.
After we were home -- about 2:00 -- there was a major downpour.
Dayle bought an Eggliner. I didn't get anything.

Good morning folks
It is a damp 52 heading up to 54.
Still recovering from the back injection on Friday. Some pain is back bt it is nowhere near what it was before the injection. It could take up to two weeks for the medicine to take full effect so some pain is to be expected. I am definitely getting around better. I did not realize how far down I had gone.
Saturday my wife and I ran some errands. We had to go to Kohl’s and drop off an Amazon return and she had to pick up an order. Then it was onto Staples for a Happy Return. She ordered some shoes that turned out to be too small. The company uses the Happy Return service to handle their returns. Next was PetSmart and then finally the grocery store. I did some laundry but no heavy lifting.
Sunday my wife and daughter went to a local library’s used book sale. I had to go back to Kohl’s to return the item my wife picked up on Saturday as it was too large. I also had to drop off a package for her at the UPS Store. I stopped at the grocery store to get some snacks for work, and to get gas.
Friday, I fixed the couplers on three Rapido PRR FD30 flat cars. For some reason the couples that came installed would not hold another coupler. I swapped them out for some Kadee #5 couplers. Saturday all was going good. I was running some trains when all of a sudden the locomotives started surging. I spent the rest of Saturday and most of Sunday trying to figure out what was going on. Since this happened with the last four locomotives I ran I suspected the issue was with the track. I did find one section of track that I had to be replaced. With the help of some folks here it appears that the problem is with the locos. Now trying to figure out what exactly is going on.
Tonight I will take it easy when I get home from work. I may feel better but I don’t want to overdo it.
I hope everybody has a good day.

Locally, most of the snow is gone except for some shaded areas and places where the snow has been artificially packed.

Greetings, gang.
Currently 33 and very windy with a thunderstorm complete with lightning, thunder, rain, sleet and possibly some snow. Rather than try to summarize here's the latest forecast from the NWS:
Rain, snow, and sleet before 10am, then snow, possibly mixed with sleet between 10am and 1pm, then snow after 1pm. The rain, snow, and sleet could be heavy at times. Some thunder is also possible. Widespread blowing snow after 10am. Temperature falling to around 32 by 11am. Very windy, with a north northeast wind 28 to 37 mph, with gusts as high as 60 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Total daytime snow and sleet accumulation of 5 to 9 inches possible.
Gonna be a long day. I just hope the power doesn't go out.
One of my daughters showed up yesterday and we had a nice visit for about an hour and a half. I skipped the gym, it was more fun talking with my daughter. After lunch I did get in a nice bike ride. When I got back I sent a very pleasant e-mail to our local constabulary asking for the current location of our automated speeding ticket dispenser since it was not at the location indicated on their web site. Half an hour later I checked their website and discovered that the unit was "not deployed."
Gas was $2.89 yesterday.
All stay safe.

Good morning folks
It is a very nice 52 and sunny this morning. Going up to 66.
Last night I had planned to begin breaking down and cleaning one the F7 locos that has been giving me troubles lately. However, a storage cabinet for some of my locomotives arrived that I had ordered a while ago. I spent most of the evening assembling it, then organized the locomotives and placed them in the cabinets. While I was doing that, I ran a new Bowser DDC/Sound PRR RS-3 to break it in. So far so good.
Tonight, I need to deal with some laundry. Then perhaps I can work on one of the F7 locomotives. While I do that I will test and break in my other PRR RS-3.
I hope everybody has a good day.

Storm update - 9:20 AM
Some slush/sleet/snow/rain with lightning, thunder and steady winds over 35 mph with gust over 40 mph. The sky is an eerie orange and it's dark enough that the street lights have come on. Radar shows another batch of nasty just about to hit.

Storm update - 12:40 PM
I ran the snow blower and it surprisingly was able to deal with the rather wet snow/slush that has fallen so far. I think I timed it right as the storm has switched over to all snow. I still hear occasional rumble of thunder and the power did drop out for about 15 seconds and is still flickering intermittently. Winds still near 40 mph with lots of blowing snow. Visibility in town is down to about a block. I can't imagine what it's like out of town. I just looked at a satellite loop and southern Iowa has clear skies!

Probably my final update for today - 3:40 PM
Wind is still wicked out there (40+ mph) but it looks like mostly just blowing snow now. Reports found so far indicate just about 7 inches of snow. I'll be running the snow blower shortly and that should wrap up my efforts for the day. The snow won't last long as the forecast shows temperatures in the 40s and 50s for the next several days. Just wish I could hold off til the snow melts rather than have to go out and clean up.
