The Hobo Camp Fire Is going well #X.. Stop In!!!

Good evening folks

Congratulations, Mikey. That will save you a bundle of cash. Take it from somebody who had to replace their heater last year. I could have bought a fully loaded new car for what I spent on the new heater.

Recovery has been slow and steady I am in the period where if I am not careful I can easily overdo it. The blister on my foot has scapped over. Also, the swelling in my legs and feet is down.

Just when you think it is safe life comes at you in the form of a broken soil pipe from the second-floor bathroom. Apparently has been leaking for a while but it has gotten much worse recently. We had a plumber give us an estimate and they will start repairs in a couple of weeks. In the meantime, the homeowner’s insurance company has sent a water mitigation company to assess the damage and begin drying out the basement and living room/foyer wall on Monday.

The layout got some water spray on one corner. Luckily there is no scenery in this area but very close to the Water Tower Diorama. Some tracks may have gotten wet. This weekend I will be going through stuff and packing it in bins or throwing it out. I can’t believe how much crap I have saved. I am glad I have been reorganizing things and putting stuff in bins. I know the layout may need to move. I am not sure if any will have to be dismantled. I am not sure how long it will be before trains will be running again.

We have some errands to run and I think we will take a trip to the farmers’ market in Wayne.

I hope everybody has a good evening.

Tom: we had to have the man in last Friday. We were getting puddles of water under the kitchen sink, fortunately onto a rubber tray -- worst damage was a roll of paper towels.
Turned out that one of the pipes had disconnected from the sink drain. Probably because the pipe was full of yuck. So we had the drains for 2 sinks and the dishwasher replaced. We think they are original to the house, 25 years. Got an talk on what creates the problem -- even includes tea and coffee down the drain.

Greetings, gang.

31 going to 51 with 30 mph winds. Guess who's not going to soccer today.

Went to the gym yesterday but could only swim a quarter mile. Really tired after Thursday's bike ride. Only thing on the agenda for today other than laundry is a train show at the county fairgrounds. First one that I know of since we moved here 45 years ago. Could be interesting.

Mikey - congratulations on the furnace win. Will it still be oil or switch to a different fuel?

Tom - keep up the good work on recovery. It's always hard not to charge back into your old ways. I had the main cast iron stack coming from the second floor spring a leak. Plumbing issues are never fun.

All stay safe.

Greetings, gang.

34 going to maybe 54 with 25 mph breezes. Mid 60s tomorrow and mid 80s by Tuesday. Then back to the 50s by Saturday. Goofy weather.

Train show was ok. Very typical of the smaller shows I've been to. Rest of the day was spent reading and watching movies. More of the same for today.

Big drop in gas price - down to $3.36 from $3.49 on Wednesday.

All stay safe.

Every time we got out of the car today, it snowed. Sometimes it even snowed while we were in the car. Also driving snow, but little stayed.

Greetings, gang.

29 at this time yesterday morning. This morning it's 59. Supposed to get to 80 later.

Moderately productive day yesterday. Swam and worked out at the gym. Then after lunch I got some flooring sanded and re-stained. For some reason it had turned much lighter after the varnish had been applied. Did two coats of stain so we'll see what happens. After that I got the yard mowed. Today will start with a trip to Menards and Walmart. After that will be a bike ride. I'm planning for 17 miles but I'll see how it goes after 12.

All stay safe.

Tuesday 4/21/26.
Hello blue.
We finally get a day without rain, well till this evening. Grass is ready for a haircut. Checked the riding mower yesterday and even thou the battery had been on a charger, it was dead. So off to Walmart for a new one. Was surprised that the old one had a 2012 date sticker. Oh the mower did start with the new battery so it will go to work this afternoon. Temp near 70 for this day.

Greetings, gang.

A pleasant 58 degrees this morning head for an equally pleasant 83 but with a chance for some showers later this morning. Turning cooler, rainy, and windy tomorrow.

Yesterday was another productive day. Got the grocery shopping done and then did 14 miles on the bike. After lunch I varnished the flooring I had stained on Monday. We'll see how it looks later today. Had to make a second trip to Menards. My garden sprayer died and I needed a replacement. Took the SuperCruiser but realized the sprayer may not fit in the under seat storage. Managed to make it work. I should have realized it was a wasted effort. The original sprayed that the weed killer come with quit working. I replaced the batteries and it still didn't work Just went out to look and the weeds look a little sickly but will probably recover. I need to find a different weed killer. I used Ortho Weed Stop. Doesn't look like it's even going to slow the weeds down, let alone stop them. Today I want to run the edger around the sidewalk before the rain gets here.

Gas was down to $3.29 yesterday.

All stay safe.

Going to 78 today, Nice and Warm!

I replaced the air filter on my Jeep Two days ago.
I swear I replaced it and the cabin filter last year, but maybe not.
The air filter is a cylinder and had 1 small 3" diameter circle of dark gray, the rest was Black  Eek

I tackled the cabin filter today.  It was all Black!!!   Blaster
so now the engine runs smoother and the air for the A/C and heater flows faster.
I recommend everyone replace the filters regularly.   Smile  Smile

Greetings, gang.

Clear skies but cool temperatures today. Currently 40 headed for maybe 60 later. Had a storm move through at suppertime last night and dropped over a half inch of rain in about 20 minutes with lots of thunder and lightning.

Yesterday was less than productive. Today I need to be a little more so. Yard needs to be mowed again and I'm sure there are other things I need to attend to.

Mikey - thanks for the reminder. I'll need to check my log book.

Gas took a nasty jump. $3.28 yesterday morning and by late afternoon it was $3.79.

All stay safe.
