Hi at all,

yesterday and today I have made any work on my two recent projects, the IL Cabin and the modul. See pics in this thread.

Most important: I have re-named the cabin from IM to IL cabin (stands for Imperial WV). The structure is ready for the layout, the only thing to add is a smoke stack.

Second project: the module. Here I have applied the rest of the surface.

Enjoy!

Greetings Marco

Nice work Marco. I like how the simplest things look also the best. This structure is a proof of that.

Some fantastic photos you've taken. The results of some fine modeling.

If you ever have a chance to come over and do a little railfanning on the C&O, PM me. I live in Cincinnati and my morning commute takes me past the station where the George Washington terminated and under one of the many high bridges on the C&O of Indiana http://homepage.mac.com/jjakucyk/Transit...index.html We still have one of our C&O roundhouses (there were three).

Thanks to all of you for your comments, these are really welcome...
@NKP_174: Thanks for the invitation! I was really, really glad about it! I'm allways in search for railfans of the eastern railroads to share ideas, comments and suggestions! And not to forget to do a little railfanning! And yes, there are any schedules to make a visit, probably in 2013 I will go ahead with planning a trip to the eastern USA. And I will not forget your invitation!!

By the way, starting from the next week, I will publish more photos on my non-commercial website http://www.little-big-america.com! I would be happy to welcome all of you at this site as visitors!

Greetings

Marco, I hope your trip includes a stop at the B&O museum in Baltimore to see the C&O locomotives. From there, it is easy to get to DC and you can ride Amtrak's Cardinal the route of the George Washington from DC past White Sulphur Springs, through the New River Gorge, and right into Cincinnati Union Terminal where it once terminated. Another alternative is the annual New River Gorge excursion out of Huntington. I've ridden it once, the year my dad's group leased Milwaukee Road 261 and pulled the train with her.

While the east lacks the operational mainline steam engines (just NKP 765), you don't necessarily have to travel far to see much...especially with the eastern PA and Maryland group: Scranton (Steamtown) is 2.5 hours north of Strasburg (RR & Museum), which is 1.5 hours north of Baltimore (B&O Museum) and Orbisonia (the incomparable East Broad Top) is 2 hours west of Strasburg. Collectively, they have about 80 steam locomotives...and operational steam in each steam.

You layout is looking quite nice. I hope you get some content up on your website too. Ich mochte es!

Yes, the station you mentioned will probably be on my schedule. The B&O museum is a must see for me, the other places are also from interest. I have to choose...

By the way, the first contents has been up-loaded to my website. Gallery#1 has the first pics. This night I will up-date another Gallery.

Under the button Projects I will publish the work steps from the blank wood till the modul ready for operation.

By the way, all of the outdoor photos I have shot with my new mobile device Samsung Galaxy Note, really incredible quality which can beat with some digital cameras.

Greetings

Hi at all,

Right now I have made any up-dates and have up-loaded new content into my website http://www.little-big-america.com.

Early visitors will see, that I have changed the background colors from waved black/white into solid blue and gray tones.

Hi at all!!

After a long time of absence from the forum I'm now back in town...
This year I had a break in building my layout because I was more than a half year in the hospital.
Meanwhile I have started some work on my C&O project, not at the modules but on the rolling stock.
For a long time I was looking for heavy triple hoppers, lettered for the C&O. During my research I have found the great Ulrich Triple Hoppers with offset sides on Ebay North America. One test car was purchased last year I was surprised. Very heavy, sturdy all metal construction with a wight of 142 gramms (around 4 ounces). Till today I have bought 19 cars. These cars I will repaint and decal with C&O letterings. And here are the results:

The most cars which you can buy around US-$10 are mostly in a poor condition with dust and scratches in the paint. On the other hand, the metal construction is realy sturdy, and they have mostly sprung metal trucks (which I will replace with Kadee Trucks). Due to the age of the cars, the overall detailing is very nice. The cheap plastic kits from today looking not better!

All cars will be completely dismantled, cleaned, newly painted and decaled with Chesapeake&Ohio letterings. They will be converted to the 70 ton, ex Pere Marquette, numbers 215000 - 215249, offset side, no end extensions. Refer to the book: "Chesapeake&Ohio Freight cars 1937 - 1965, Volume 1 Hopper and Gondolas"

The first primed hopper car:
