Re: Octagon corn crib - ak-milw - 02-02-2015 Mr Fix it, you can't grind cow feed with wet corn, it just won't work, also it would heat up and spoil. That's why they would crib it to let it air dry. Now adays it's dried in gas driers. 8-) Re: Octagon corn crib - Mr Fixit - 02-02-2015 Cows could eat just about all of a corn plant couldnt they? Or is that just being too enviro-friendly? Mark Re: Octagon corn crib - ak-milw - 02-03-2015 Today they do, They shred it all up and put it in big plastic bags or concrete bunkers, it's called corn silage. they didn't do it that way back in the 1950's. 8-) Re: Octagon corn crib - ak-milw - 02-04-2015 Here it is all finished. seeing I never build two of anything, if anyone would like the plans send me a PM with your address and I will mail them to you, otherwise they will be recycled. Thanks for watching!! 8-) Re: Octagon corn crib - doctorwayne - 02-04-2015 That turned out great. I especially like the moss growth on the lower portion - very realistic. Wayne Re: Octagon corn crib - MasonJar - 02-04-2015 That's great! Only one trouble - it makes your derelict barn look almost new. I second Wayne's comment about the moss growth. Andrew Re: Octagon corn crib - ak-milw - 02-04-2015 Thanks Guy's for the comments, Here in this part of Wisconsin the summers are very humid and the moss and mold grow on old wood like that all over. I just might have to do a little more work on the barn before I finish the scene. 8-) Re: Octagon corn crib - Catt - 02-05-2015 Andy, how about some vines crawling up the sides of that beauty? Re: Octagon corn crib - Steve - 02-05-2015 Very nice build Andy! Well done as usual!!! Re: Octagon corn crib - ak-milw - 02-05-2015 Thanks guy's!! Catt I think that could be do able. 8-) Re: Octagon corn crib - Catt - 02-06-2015 Andy, Are those plans drawn with scale feet dimensions? Reason I am asking is I would like to try one in N and one in O scale. Re: Octagon corn crib - ak-milw - 02-07-2015 Catt , They are drawn in 1:1 dimensions. PM me your address and they are yours. 8-) Re: Octagon corn crib - Catt - 02-07-2015 PM sent. Thanks Andy. |
