RE: The Hobo Camp Fire Is going well #X.. Stop In!!! - FiatFan - 08-03-2024

Greetings, gang.

69 going to neat 90 under clear skies. Gonna be a hot one.

Pretty quiet day yesterday. Got all the bills paid so I can stay in the house for another month. Today I get to march in another couple of parades in support of my granddaughter who is running for elected office. Whoever schedules these parades needs to pick cooler days. By the time I get home this afternoon I will be ready to sit and do nothing for the remainder of the weekend.

All stay safe.

Tom

Good Afternoon everyone. Today is another hot day here. We are at my fiancés nieces wedding and there is a strong band of thunderstorms moving into the area right now. We are having a nice time here as we don’t get to see her side of the family as much as we would like too. We are hoping this rain will cool the temp down some and make it tolerable for everyone.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend and stay cool where ever it is hot at.

Good afternoon.

We have another rainy day and the grass is growing once again. I will have to mow soon or I will need a bigger mower.  Icon_e_biggrin

It is 73° and the humidity is 90%.

Gas has jumped to 3.459. Why?

I have been doing a little work in the train room but not enough to report or get excited about.  I have a doctor appointment Monday and I need to address a few minor issues.

     Have a good day all

Charlie

Greetings, gang.

72 at 6 o'clock in the morning is not a good start for the day. Gonna be another hot one. According to our very good friends at the NWS it will be hot again tomorrow and then for the rest of the week the highs will only be in the 70s.

Marched in a couple of parades yesterday but it wasn't as big of a deal as you might suspect. One was 3 blocks long and the other was 7 blocks long. Yep, these are very small towns. Between the parades I had a chance to get a shower, wash and dry the clothes I was wearing, and have lunch. After the second one I had a another shower and drank a lot of liquids to catch up. This morning I need to make a Walmart run. After that will be a lot of resting. Doctor appointment in Ames tomorrow morning. Hopefully I can finally get some attention on a minor but extremely uncomfortable issue.

Charlie - I think whoever sets the gas prices has a bad day and then we pay for it. As the person starts to feel better the prices come down again.

All stay safe.

Tom

Good morning, just a quickie, it's Sunday, I'm going to try to make it to church today, can't be sure until it's time to leave. Record 116 yesterday, storm warnings but they never got past Wickenburg.

As for gas, I think we hit bottom, Costco still at $3.09, a few others $3.27, Sam's is up to $3.18 so I think we're due for price increases.

Ya all have a great day. BTW, I think Pat's got the notification system working so you should get notified now for any threads you've subscribed to.

Well lets see, it's 8/04 already.
Hello Blue.
Sun with a 90 for today. Rain returns tonight. I don't remember a summer with this much rain & storms. The grass usually looks like straw this time of year.
My wife will be going to church, I watch from home. This will be her last time for a while as her knee replacement is scheduled for Wednesday.
Gas seems to be hanging around $3.69. Eggs at Aldias was back up to $2.09.

Greeting's gang.

72 under hazy skies again this morning. High near 92 then a big change. Forecast highs for the rest of the week are in the mid to upper 70s.

Quiet day yesterday. I did put some weed killer on the lawn. Otherwise hid in the house. This morning will require a trip to Ames for a doctor visit. No other plans.

Gas here was $3.25 when I was out yesterday.

All stay safe.

Tom

Hello Blue
Sun and 80s for the day and yes sct'd storms are tossed in there too.
We had some company Sunday afternoon. #1 son with wife came and cut the grass for me and while they were here my cousin and his wife drove up. They live about an hour away but was near us so they decide to see if we were home. We had a nice visit. No plans for this day.

Good afternoon folks

It is another hot one with a current temperature of 87 going up to 95.

It has been a busy morning here at the project site. Not much work happening but a lot of discussions about what is next and the quality of work of one of the subcontractors and how much is going to need to be corrected.

On Saturday my wife and I visited the American Treasure Tour Museum. It is hard to describe. The owner has collected a whole lot of stuff and is now displaying it for the public to see. There are seventy cars and trucks, twelve fairgrounds music machines and organs. They all work but a couple that are undergoing restoration. There are signs, player pianos, old phones. In all honesty there is too much stuff to see in one visit. Sunday we ran to PetSmart and the grocery store. I did a few chores around the house.

The layout was a disaster. I was trying to run trains but all I encountered were DCC and locomotive problems. I have several locomotives that won’t run correctly. I have been going back and forth with Charlie and Todd to try to figure out what is going on.

Tonight, I will probably work on the layout problems.

I hope everybody has a good day.

RE: The Hobo Camp Fire Is going well #X.. Stop In!!! - FiatFan - 08-06-2024

Greetings, gang.

It' a (comparatively) frigid 62 degrees outside my window this morning under cloudy skies. Only supposed to get to the low to mid 70s for a high. A definite change from the last two weeks' high temps and humidity.

Yesterday turned out to be a zoo. Routine visit to the surgeon who will hopefully fix a year long problem I've been dealing with. Got home form Ames (hour trip each way) and got a call from the dermatologist requesting a visit yesterday afternoon, making it sound like an emergency open heart surgery. Trip back to Ames only to discover the the issue in question was a common wart. Annoying to say the least. Nothing else accomplished yesterday.

This morning I need to make a quick trip to the grocery store. Otherwise just some routine house cleaning. Older daughter is stopping by around lunch time (hmmm, coincidence?) to pick up some items to take to her daughter next weekend.

Not sure what's going over on the MR forum but it's difficult to get into and there have been no postings for 3 days.

Gas prices were all over the map yesterday. In Ames it was $3.34. Here in town it was $3.14. In a small town (population 500) along the interstate between here and Ames the price was $2.99. Guess where I stopped to fill the car.

All stay safe.

Tom

Good morning

We have a cloudy 77° with 84%  humidity and thunder storms likely.

I had a doctor visit yesterday and I finally quit lying about how I felt.  She drew blood and I have an appointment on the 15th to go over the results. If they are OK I am going to try cortisone shots in my left hip and left shoulder.  The arthritis is getting to be a real pain and has limited my ability to do a lot of things.

NS is still throwing money at the town. I can't believe the money they have spent trying to build good will.

    Not much else going on.

    Stay healthy and safe

Charlie

Good morning all. Just got back from the cardiologist. He must have realized that I had no appointments scheduled for next week so he decided to fill up my dance card with tests. I'm OK with that except that two of them are fasting.... Still have one more appointment this morning, seems as if I'm getting dumped on. I had  one last week where they warned me that snowbird season is approaching so make my appointments now or wait. Right now I can get one in as soon as a day or a week at most. Come October, we're looking at three to six weeks lead time to see a doctor, a week or two to see a PA.

Have a great day, stay cool.

I saw the pulmonologist this morning. He was pleased with the improvement in my lung function and gave me leave to cut back to one puffer a day. I can go back up if there are problems.
We then went around for Dayle to find a rocking chair (indoors). There don't seem to be any. One in a store was the floor model and it would have to be ordered and assembled. She didn't seem to want to have me assemble it. (also too expensive)
