Re: A Diorama for Jessica - jglfan - 12-22-2009 Man, that really came out great! Love the details and very nicely done. Even the storage unit behind the scene looks like a condo! Hee. I'm sure she's going to love it, and the family will be impressed. Nice job! Re: A Diorama for Jessica - Herc Driver - 01-04-2010 All right...Christmas is over...the holiday's are done...so Josh - what happened? How'd your girlfriend like the house? Re: A Diorama for Jessica - Steve - 01-04-2010 Awesome!

Re: A Diorama for Jessica - OBJack - 01-06-2010 Quite an outstanding effort Josh, with all those little stories within, and some great modeling to boot sir, I am sure Jessica would have been impressed. Now however Josh,I agree with the others, it's Time to come clean. You had me enthralled with the project all the way through, but it is like reading a good novel only to find the last page missing.
Re: A Diorama for Jessica - Trucklover - 01-06-2010 Wayne, Herc, Ralph, Andrew, Dave, Carl, Galen, Chris, JG, and Jack, THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!!! I took the last couple weeks off for Christmas, and Im just getting back into things this week. Its taken me 3 days to catch up, and finally this morning I got to the bottom of my emails and finished making all the phone calls lol. Now its time to come back and see whats been going on the Gauge. I have to say, this is certainly a warm welcome back coming and reading all your replies in this thread Thankyou all for all the replies and comments, I really appreciate it. Now I have to come clean, I have not shown this to Jessica yet. I was going to give this to her for Christmas, but ultimately decided not to for a couple reasons:
It was discussed with her and she just said to wait and give it to her as just a gift for no reason after Christmas. Her family can still see it next time they come over to her house, and it wont have to go through all the dangers of being handed and car rides back and forth lol. I am bringing it over on Saturday morning, where Jessica and her parents will see it for the first time. After that, it will be off to the Hardware store to get some brackets to hang the diorama on her wall somewhere. I will report back when I get her and her parents reaction Ohhh and sorry to keep this little novel going, but you guys will just have to wait a little longer for the last page. Think of it as I tore it out and ran off to keep the story going hehe Re: A Diorama for Jessica - Herc Driver - 01-06-2010 Aaarrrgghhh!!! Just like a Hollywood movie or Dr Seuss book...one teaser turns into another! When will it end? Seriously, that sounds like a prudent plan. I didn't realize there would be a weight factor with it covered in plexiglass. Probably a good call to limit its movement. Good planning and foresight...girls like that in their man (oops...did I just get off on that tangent again? I'll try to avoid that in the future. NOT!!.). Ok...I'll wait. But I'm not happy about it. We need closure to this thriller! I do like dioramas Sam, and I do like them in a box. I like them all covered in plex, and would even like them in CSX. BNSF is fine for me, as well as NS, Amtrak and UP. But there's so much more to do, we'll need to wait till this story is through. Will she like it? I think she will, and up it will go near the window sill. The sun will shine on her sunny home, and just maybe Josh will not build the rest of his models alone. -- (My sincerest apologies to Dr. Seuss.) Re: A Diorama for Jessica - viperman - 01-06-2010 Come on Josh! That diorama looks great, and I wouldn't mind accepting one as a gift myself How big is the thing though (L,W,H)? I don't remember reading that anywhere Re: A Diorama for Jessica - cnw1961 - 01-07-2010 Oh come on Josh, you can’t do that, we have been waiting long enough now ... the suspense is unbearable....
Re: A Diorama for Jessica - Herc Driver - 01-07-2010 Ok Josh...don't make me get all Dr Seuss on you again. I have limited rhyming skills and I'm not afraid to us them. When is she going to see the house and what did she say? Re: A Diorama for Jessica - Tom - 01-08-2010 Josh, if I can make a suggestion: Simpson brand (as in Simpson Strong Ties) makes a wall anchor style of mounting hardware for brackets and such that are essentially made for earthquake prone regions like Kaliphornia. You can find them at Home Depiot and Lowes. They are GREAT for hanging heavy items on the wall and I swear by them, as do a few structural engineer friends and builders. I would go with those and the beefiest brackets you can get. Re: A Diorama for Jessica - Herc Driver - 02-23-2010 Hey - we're still hanging here.......what happened with the diorama? Re: A Diorama for Jessica - viperman - 02-23-2010 Josh, you've been slacking. Fill us in! Re: A Diorama for Jessica - Will_Annand - 02-24-2010 Josh, I just caught up with this thread. Nice work my friend. Lots of details and the overall scene looks great. Well done. If you will allow me one picky observation. When taking the photos, if you put a sheet of blue bristol board behind the model, it would look better, in a couple of the shots, the objects behind the diorama distract the eye from your great work. Just an observation, not a criticism sir. |
