Bingo. Unfortunately, the black ink fades a little to a purplish (A laser printer would be better). I cut the decal close to the letters, and after it is applied, I hide the seam with black paint. Basically, I take a very fine brush and paint as close to the letters as possible. After a little weathering, it looks good enough to me.

Here is a photo taken outside. Just a few things left to do now - weathering, window glass and install the interior seats.

Wow, that really, really looks good! I wonder... does anyone make a narrow vestibule coach in HO scale? I know the point of the challenge was to make one yourself, but I have so many unfinished projects already and I don't believe I will tackle this one. But it is absolutely gorgeous and I want one!

very nice work. If I was to see the last pic on it's own outside of the contest I'd think it was a commercial model and not a kit bash.

Here is the completed care, with window glass, window shades, interior seats, and light weathering. Enjoy.

And one in b/w for old-time's sake.

An absolutely beautiful clean conversion this is, can't tell that it has been bashed from some old cars. I especially like the detailing on the bottom, something one won't see at first.

Beautiful workmanship, Kevin, and a great-looking car, too.

Thanks for the compliments. I am proud to say the only new item I bought for these cars was a jar of black paint. Everything else I already had lying around.

As you should be! Way to make use of what you've got laying around! Nice touch on the little bend in the handrails...I must've missed that, but was that something you added or were those already that way? I know old Walther's handrail sets had that bend.

That's a sweet model! Thumbsup
If I may ask,in what issue of Model Railroader did you find the plans ?......................yeah, I might actually scratchbuild one of these. Smile ................well.... after a list of projects, that's longer than the movie credits for "Avatar". Big Grin

It is brass rod that I bent. The model power handrails were crude plastic.

Got it!, and it's the same issue that has the narrow gauge drop bottom gondola!
I was thinking of doing a couple of those in On30, so maybe, rather than scratch build,
I might bash a Bachmann On30 coach. Wink Smile Big Grin
