If you do get up here, let me know, maybe we can meet up. The SRNJ is not railfan friendly as they used to be. They had quite a bit of vandalism and theft and they now don't allow railfans on the property.

That winter was just brutal. I still remember it and I was only 11 at the time. Most snow that I can remember and it hung around for a long time. Seems there was one day I remember being -15 F with a wind chill to -40. Definitely not days to double dog dare someone to put their tongue on a flag pole!

We did have 2 of the coldest winters I can remember in the early years of Conrail. At that time I was still young enough it didn't bother me much, I had an inside job and only lived a block from work. I got some remarkable train pictures in those snows.
December, 1977. This guy is waiting for track. He is westbound and about 500 feet east of Buckeye temporary block station (TBS). East Palestine, Ohio.
