You have done a great job on blending the backdrop into the layout. A question if I may, the tree for thee dolls house, do you intend to cover all the smaller end branches with the "silicon" or are they left bare? If so, is the wire paintable or does the foliage hide it?

They will be chemically blackened and covered with foliage.
Thanks , Mike

Hi Mike...."Chemically blackened". That's the second time I see that used this week....What is it..?? It's something I'll have to do to the valve gear on a 2-8-2 kit I hope to start building shortly in the future....

That backdrop sure is a beaut....A+++ Thumbsup

Re: ACTRR is being dismantled and re-constructed - Fifer - 10-03-2009

Thanks Gus . Yes it is a rail weathering solution. It can blacken some metals but it forms a high resistance film between electrical surfaces so you have to be carefull if you weather track (with conductivity)

I had seen that on google as well and I think it is the EXACT model Walthers used as the base.

Here is what I got done today. The overpass will act as a partial viewblock to the portal at the window. The back side will be mostly trees to complete the block. The overpass will tie into a road that passes through the city area.

Re: ACTRR is being dismantled and re-constructed - Wiredup - 11-15-2009

i love your latest update with the car shop. Really makes me wanna add one to my layout!

Now did you use a similar process with this one that you did with the roundhouse and use peco track? or did you cut the bottom out of the building and put the kato track under it?

did you have to add the crane?

No , on this one I cut the unitrack ballast off and clamped and glued the rail right into the building floor.
Thanks Gang , Mike & Robin

i'll be trying a similar thing with my modern roundhouse. What would you do differently about that application now?

also, where did the crane come from? is it part of the kit?
