Chasing the Local 4-28-10 - railohio - 04-28-2010

This morning I chased the Norfolk Southern L91 local to Woodburn, Indiana with a friend. The train originates at East Wayne Yard in New Haven, Indiana and runs up the old Wabash 5th District to switch a BF Goodrich tire plant and shortline interchange. Here's what we saw:

I would like to see someone model the track in that last photo - very awesome!

I tried but I had to exaggerate it in N scale to make it noticeable and then it seemed a bit... exaggerated.

A very short local and very nice chase. Thumbsup ..

See that fella hanging on the steps of the caboose in #3 photo? I done that several times signaling the engineer.

That track is in very good condition for a branch line or shortline. You guys ought to get out trackside a little more. More than three-quarters of the ties are still holding spikes and the ballast is clean and deep. It would likely be good for 25 mph if it didn't fall under yard limit operating rules or require a long back-up move in one direction.
