Kato Track Templates - NJ Devils Fan - 05-17-2011

Need some help here guys. My brother (new to the hobby) wants to build a HO scale layout for his son. I have sent him some ideas on track plans and he has his mind set on one in particular. He wants to build the "Black River Jct." trackplan as seen in a Kalmbach publication, with a few additional yard tracks added.

The trackplan shows that Kato sectional track is used. Because he wants to use that track only, he wants to see what other componets will fit before he begins laying track. Does anyone know where I can find Kato track Templates? I can't seem to find any on their website. Is there some that can be downloaded so that he can print them from his computer.

Another question.

Is there much difference between, say, Atlas sectional track and Kato's? Does anyone have any comments on Kato (or other brand) sectional track. Is there any brand out there that is "preferred"? Or, are they all about the same? I have always used Atlas track with NS rail. I've never had any issues with it, but as technology gets better, I'm sure track will too.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
