Newly "detailed" sharknose diesel - RobertInOntario - 06-06-2011
Well, I was able to tackle of my several projects tonight. I added the Pennsy decals to my HO Sharknose diesel. Originally, this was one of my Dad's locos and it was inauthentically painted in a late CNR colour scheme (CN actually never had any sharknoses). A couple months ago, I spray-painted it in Tuscon Red using Testors' paint -- I was very pleased with the result & the paint quality.
It took me almost 1.5 hours to add the decals tonight, allowing adequate time for them to dry, etc. At any rate, this old loco runs very well and, IMHO, I think it looks better than ever!
Apologies for photographing it on my British layout. :-)

Thanks. I'm very pleased with it and was very surprised by how well it turned out! I'm very pleased with Testors' spray paints so far. Previously, I had used Tamiya with good results but Testors' was even better.

Yes, a little -- even now they're not completely lined up evenly. In general, though, the decals were fairly easy to apply giving you lots of time to move them around before drying.

The decals were made by Microscale & were easier to use than some decal products I've used. These were easy to maneuver into position and, if you botched it up, there ae several copies on the sheet to cut out. With some of the others ones (mentioned above), you only had one set -- that's why it says "Candia Pacific" on the side of one of my CPR coaches!
Maybe I should buy another set & fix it up.

Your Shark turned out very well, Rob.
Posing it on your British layout only gives further credibility to Pennsy's claim to be the "Standard Railroad of the World".

Thanks, Wayne! When I run my N. American locos, I don't have any other choice but to run them through the British countryside! I'll have to bulld a N. American layout one day.
