Walthers 90' Turntable - upnick - 06-10-2011

Hi All,

This week i recieved a Walthers 90ft turntable & motor 933-3171 from Maders trains Big Grin for a new end to end layout as below it will possibly have some more tracks to it but the turntable will be as is, my question is how do i wire it for DCC from what i have read it isnt the split ring type to auto change polarity.

With this in mind i presume an autoreverser will be needed i have in mind the DCC specialities PSX-AR suitable for use with an NCE powercab unlike the cheaper one from them ........... using the diagram below can anyone mark where the track feeds & insulating breaks need to be please

You shouldn't need any insulated gaps, just wire the two wires from the turntable that are the bridge track power to the output of the autoreverser.

The "in" power can come from any of the approach tracks....Just make sure that all the storage tracks are wired the same as the approach tracks. I used SPST switches to turn the storage tracks on or off. That way I don't have my decoders "hot" all the time.

With that turntable make sure you "fine tune" it as much as possible, The bridge tends to have a lot of "slop", both horizontally and vertically. I had to uninstall mine and get it as close to "good" as I could, but I'm stll pondering whether to get rid of it and put in a "real" one... Nope
