Re: Time Saver / Inglenook Switching Combo - Biased turkey - 02-06-2009 It is really looking good. Nice work dwight77. Jacques Re: Time Saver / Inglenook Switching Combo - tetters - 02-06-2009 That looks pretty awesome. Re: Time Saver / Inglenook Switching Combo - shortliner - 02-06-2009 This is drawn for HO scale, but may give you ideas - one small point - the "tail" for the Inglenook should be long enough tom hold a loco+3 cars (not a loco+2 as shown) Re: Time Saver / Inglenook Switching Combo - Brakie - 02-06-2009 Trucklover Wrote:wgrider Wrote:Wow does that look complicated. Not to bad..Just plan your work and work you plan remembering not to move cars you don't need to.. Its as simple as that. Re: Time Saver / Inglenook Switching Combo - LynnB - 02-06-2009 Isn't there like an online site where you can actually move cars around and the idea is to move the one car in as little moves as possible? Re: Time Saver / Inglenook Switching Combo - eightyeightfan1 - 02-06-2009 Looks great! Re: Time Saver / Inglenook Switching Combo - steinjr - 02-06-2009 dwight77 Wrote:Hi All: That is one sweet model railroad combination of classic (TS+Inglenook) puzzle module and a good looking scenery plan! Great work - especially with the way you guys have worked in structures, roads, parking spots and grass. The module does not come across straight away as "just a switching puzzle/game" - the way you guys have made the scene look, it actually gives a plausible impression of being a real railroad that just had a very convoluted track plan forced on it by external circumstances. Btw - not to hijack your thread, but if others are thinking about fitting in a little puzzle on their layouts, a modeler by the name of Andrew Martin has a series of track plans online that has various treatments of Inglenooks and "supernooks" - at URL http://andrews-trains.fotopic.net/. Again - great work with this module! Smile, Stein Re: Time Saver / Inglenook Switching Combo - dwight77 - 02-07-2009 Damn Stein.....Thanks.....your are too kind. I will look forward to posting more pictures when we have finished the scenery. In all honesty, we just tried to figure out a way to allow us to have two puzzles, two people working the puzzles, and have it come in off of our N-Trak modules. I have become a card carrying, flag carring, proponet for DCC. Our module will allow us to have two people working the puzzle, and three to four people running trains on our N-Trak Layout. A cooler of beer and we will be all set. dwight77 Re: Time Saver / Inglenook Switching Combo - RobertInOntario - 02-07-2009 This looks great, especially combined with the other layout. Thanks Stein for that very interesting link to switching layouts. My 1st ( and switching layout ) is completed at 90 % ( I'll post pictures when it is 100% complete ) . I became addicted to switching layouts ( thanks to Carl Arendt ) and the link you supplied will be very helpful for the 2nd one i'm already planning. Jacques Re: Time Saver / Inglenook Switching Combo - Biased turkey - 02-08-2009 What brand of track is used for that module ? Atlas, Kato, Peco ? Code 80 ? Jacques Re: Time Saver / Inglenook Switching Combo - dwight77 - 02-08-2009 Hi Jacques (Biased Turkey): We used Atlas code 80 flex track and Peco #6 turnouts. We did use one piece of Atlas snap track for the section of track that crosses from one module to the main modules. Since it was a curved section, it was a lot easier to use a piece of track that had a fixed curve. dwight77 Re: Time Saver / Inglenook Switching Combo - dwight77 - 03-22-2009 Hi All: We have made significant progress on the scenery for our puzzle module. I am going to post about 15 pictures, so it will take five message posts; but we are kind of happy with the way the module looks. We still need to add some more people and if anyone has any other suggestions, be are always open the new ideas. So attached are the first three pics. dwight77 Re: Time Saver / Inglenook Switching Combo - dwight77 - 03-22-2009 And now three more. dwight77 Re: Time Saver / Inglenook Switching Combo - dwight77 - 03-22-2009 And three more dwight77 |
