One went to altoona ( 8098 ) and the other went to Chatt, TN. Juniata managed to paint her and have her outside before the Chattanoga shops. Juniata is still holding up to its name for sure. Now which place would you rather have paint the locomotives?Quality, not quantity... In all fairness to the Tenn. fellows, the Conrail job is one color, and vinyl lettering and vinyl logos. the Southern scheme is at least 2 colors, and it takes time for paint to dry enough for the additional masking, as well as time to paint. The Conrail unit was probably in Altoona sooner too. Southern has 3 colors-Black hood,a thin gold stripe and a white band that wraps around the locomotive..Even the green scheme had the gold stripe and white band around the engine.. Conrail has two colors..A blue body, black trucks, fuel tank and pilot. In CR's last days many locomotives had a white frame stripe. Re: Norfolk Southern Heritage Fleet - railohio - 03-16-2012 When in doubt, refer to the official company press release: <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.nscorp.com/nscportal/nscorp/Media/News%20Releases/2012/ns_heritage_roll_out.html">http://www.nscorp.com/nscportal/nscorp/ ... l_out.html</a><!-- m --> Re: Norfolk Southern Heritage Fleet - ngauger - 03-16-2012 So now I guess the question should be... How long do we have to wait to actually see one of the 18 on our rails here in the Mid-Atlantic States??? ~~~ Just what i need --- another reason to chase trains!!!!!! Too far from Altoona Hopefully some will come eastward Re: Norfolk Southern Heritage Fleet - Bob C - 03-16-2012 Have it from a friendly foamer...she's by Greensburg, Pa...west on the Pittsburgh Line about 5 pm, and Fast Freddy has alerted the area fans. Bob C. Re: Norfolk Southern Heritage Fleet - LiveSteamer - 03-21-2012 The southern heritage unit is completed and now another unit has arrived at altoona. This unit will be the N&W Heritage unit. Re: Norfolk Southern Heritage Fleet - Bob C - 03-21-2012 NS Southern unit, anyone? http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=392712&nseq=0 Re: Norfolk Southern Heritage Fleet - Justinmiller171 - 03-29-2012 Nickel Plate Road Heritage Unit: http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=393441 and http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=393493&nseq=0 Re: Norfolk Southern Heritage Fleet - ngauger - 03-30-2012 Beautiful!!! Re: Norfolk Southern Heritage Fleet - LiveSteamer - 03-31-2012 NKP #8100 on 11A this morning. Re: Norfolk Southern Heritage Fleet - ngauger - 03-31-2012 Great Shot!! KEEP POSTING THEM!!!!
Re: Norfolk Southern Heritage Fleet - FCIN - 03-31-2012 NS needs to seriously consider adopting the NKP scheme. At the very least they need to change the white lettering and stripes to that shade of yellow - would be a HUGE improvement! Re: Norfolk Southern Heritage Fleet - LiveSteamer - 03-31-2012 11A this morning had SD60E #6905 which was built at Juniata. Re: Norfolk Southern Heritage Fleet - LiveSteamer - 04-05-2012 And then, there were 4. The 4th heritage unit to roll out is Central of Georgia. Next should be the N&W which is to be painted at Juniata. |
