I hope so. They are telling me it should be done right around Christmas. So hypothermia or not, I don't care. I'm going swimming!

Just found this thread today and read through it all. Sounds like a fun project. I wouldn't mind having an outdoor layout, but don't really see myself doing one

Are you planning a train ferry across the lake?

Now there's an idea! I think I've seen something like that working at LegoLand.

I love this concept. Can't wait to see more progression.

I wish I could pull something like this off.... but snow...

Years back I saw this done in an above ground pool, at Trainfest, in Milwaukee, Wi.
The ferry was radio controlled, and freight was switched before the "trip back" each time.
It was an exceptional idea.............until time came to drain the pool !!!!.....it took hours

I just found this thread and read through it ... I got a big smile on my face as that all-familiar lettering style on that drawing for the "logging pond" scrolled up. I actually got my part-time job in the architects office when I was a student in art scholl by practicing doing alphabets every evening for half an hour for three weeks ... my lettering was better than anyone elses and I got the job. 8-)

The "layout" was looking so good! I was enjoying watching the build. Then you tore it all out?! Confusedhock:
I'll get over it ... but I can't wait to see how you deal with "the concrete pond, there, Jethro!" Icon_lol

Keep building ... keep photographing! I was not a Garden Railroading fan, but you might change my mind (although I have way too much time, money, thought and organization invested in HO to change at this point.) Big Grin

Well, so far, there has been no progress rebuilding the Scorpion Bend. After I tore the old one out to make room for the "logging pond", I pretty much lost all my motivation for the time being. As forecast though, this summer has been much more bearable and the whole family is thoroughly enjoying the new "logging pond." We had solar water panels mounted on the roof of the house and they say that here in Phoenix, our swim season should be extended from early March to Late November. They were right about March as we had water temps in the upper 80's by March 1st. Remind me to let you know about the November part in about 4 months.
