Looks good Reinhard! Have a great trip! Smile

As far as I'm concerned, you're on a trip, but you can call it a holiday, as it will still be a break of the normal daily routine, even if that in your case is a retirement routine.
I've heard of several people, that they are even busier when retired, than they were while still at work... I don't know, I will have to find out when my time comes, but that is still far in the future at the moment..

The new industry is looking really nice, and reminds me that I need to find some US freight trucks like yours, but models of trucks that would be common in the 80's, not the more streamlined ones currently being offered by the model industry...

Hi,

Reinhard, great looking new industrie complex on your layout....can't wait for you getting back to the layout from the holidays.... Wink

Have a nice trip to Gran Canaria....

Cheers,Chris

Re: Freelance 2015-1 - faraway - 04-24-2015

We are back from a wonderful spring in Gran Canaria with close to cozy 70° warm evenings at sunset. The warm waters of the Atlantic make the evening and night air quite warm.

The unpainted industry was hungry for some paint. I had to hurry to get some rattle cans and get on the balcony as the weather forecast is not very "rattle can friendly".....
Did four layers 1) plastic primer 2+3) light gray primer 4) final slow setting light brown (off-white) finish. It will sit and sink outside for another hour until sunset. We will see if I need another layer of the light brown paint tomorrow.
I was concerned how well the gray primer will equalize the white walls and the black handrails but it went exceptional well.

As usual very nice work. Just out of curiosity do you ever slow down long enough for a deep breath ? Thumbsup Thumbsup

Re: Freelance 2015-1 - lajry - 04-25-2015

Yes Reinhard very good industry in a relatively small place! Why don't you punch a hole in the wall in corner so you can put one-two more cars in that spot. LOL

Re: Freelance 2015-1 - faraway - 04-25-2015

Great work Reinhard!. Want to make streets and roads for my layout, can you explain how did you make yours?

Re: Freelance 2015-1 - faraway - 04-26-2015

I use either blue foam (not on this layout) or plain styrene and paint the surface with Heki 6600 concrete street or Heki 6601 asphalt street color. The asphalt color is easy replaced by a mix of black and white wall paint.
The concrete gets a black wash as needed and the asphalt get light brown powder distributed with a moist sponge.

Great looking modern day industry. I noticed the small security shack. I'd like to make something like that for my steel mill.

It is many years old and belonged to some larger kit. I have no further memories of it's origin, sorry.

Re: Freelance 2015-1 - Ralph - 04-26-2015

That's OK....I'll try scratch building something like it. Its just the sort of thing Kings Port Steel needs.

Re: Freelance 2015-1 - Catt - 04-27-2015

Sometimes I ask myself what I like most about modeling. Is it the build itself or the detailing afterwards and I have come to the conclusion that the answer is Yes! Very nice detailing as usual ,Reinhard my compliments sir. Thumbsup Thumbsup
