C'mon in Larry, the waters fine.We can always use more modelers in "N"ormal scale.

I 've been scratch-bashing a bag house (where grain and seed are bagged for sale) for Gorman Grain & Implement. The building was built using left overs from Pikestuff kits and Evergreen Board and Batten siding. The building is 70' wide by 120' long.It stands 30' at the peak.Colour is Sage green as all of the metal buildings at Gorman's will be when the total project is done. Here are a couple of before and after pics of the built building.

The main reason for the paint job is that blue plastic literally screams "PIKESTUFF" in N scale.Don't get me wrong I like PIKESTUFF but I prefer to think of my buildings as mine. Eek

Add a few extra details and some stuff from the spare parts bin and it is "yours". Thumbsup

Two more buildings for the Gorman Grain and Implement complex. This one is a modified Micro Engineering kit (don't remember which one).

This one is a old wood kit that was given to me years ago.I have no idea who made it,but it came with both plastic and cast metal pieces.

I have no idea why these buildings look like they are different colours since they were painted with the same custom mix to match the bag house.

Probably has something to due with why socks go missing in the dryer. Icon_lol

Hi,
nice looking structures. I like those pikestuff kits, too. They are great for kitbashing and scratchbuilding....

keep up with the great work.

Regards,Chris

Thanks Chris.Pikestuff is my usual go to for scratch building/bashing metal type buildings. That and Evergreen siding. I even have used it for a Z scale building and will use some more for that scale too.

Finally got almost a week to work on the layout in particular the grain elevator.Picked up 3 sticks of ATLAS code 55 to finish the yard this am,but now I can't find any rail joiners. Wallbang Oh well pics later this week ( I hope).

Re: Grande Valley Railway in N version 4.0 - Catt - 05-14-2016

Update for the grain elevator.I have all the storage yard track installed missing ties filled in ,and ready for some rail painting Starting on or about May 22nd.

Starting tomorrow I will be working on getting the room cleaned out where the Z layout is going (right next to this layout)

Anywho, here is a pic showing the current status of the grain elevator.

I got both head houses and the load/unload shed painted over the week end.I'm thinking of extending the shed so it can handle two cars at a time.I also raised the main building 3/16" because it looked better to me.I've also been working on Kellett Transfer Gorman's neibor to the left but I have not uploaded the pics yet.

The blue building on the lower right is the engine shed for the local yard, and will be moved once I get to that part of the layout.
