Good afternoon folks,

Just doing a quick check in. Been an exhausting couple of weeks getting my FIL transferred to a long term skilled nursing facility. Took forever to find an place acceptable to us with an opening. He was transferred a week ago and it feels like we have been doing paperwork ever since.

Strange having free time particularly on the weekends. I am also looking at retiring in the next two months. May be then I will have some time for modeling.

Have a great day.

Greetings, gang.

Cloudy and 59 headed for rainy and 75. Rain predicted through Monday evening. Warming trend next week with highs predicted to be in the upper 80s. Depending on the humidity I may have to turn on the a/c.

Quiet day yesterday. Went to the gym in the morning. Had to cut the swim short by about 4 laps. Started getting a cramp in my leg. Too windy to ride the bike yesterday. Then I discovered that one of my favorite sites is broadcasting live again. The NOAA research vessel is conducting dives off the coast of Florida. Here's the link if you want to watch: http://oceanexplorer.noaa.gov/okeanos/welcome.html

In other news gas prices in town are down to $2.29.9. Today's agenda includes laundry, maybe a bike ride (weather dependent), and more fish watching. Was thinking about going to see the new Men In Black movie but only slept 5 hours last night so I can't see spending money to doze off during the movie. Maybe next week.

Tom - sympathies on having to deal with your FIL. It's tough on you and on them.

All stay safe.

Tom

Good morning all, here we are into Summer already, Summer Solstice was yesterday, didn't get dark here until well past 8:00, glad we're not on DST or that would be ridiculously late. Temps still running below normal, today's average is 107, we're not expected to hit 100 today. I can remember days where it was still 100 at midnight and a few where it never got lower than 100.

The wildfire just east of the valley is now past 65,000 acres and threatening homes. One area is under evacuation orders. The humidity is very low and that doesn't help the firefighters any, which I understand number over 900 along with a few of those large tankers and a few helicopters.

Tompm, glad to have you stop by. I know about the time-consuming frustrations of caregiving, a break now and then is essential and as you say, strange to have some time to yourself. Good luck with your FIL, and hope to see more of you.

EDIT: The wildfire in the Tonto National Park is now over 80,000 acres with over 1000 firefighters on the line. So far it hasn't hit the tall pines though. I17 was temporarily shut down last night due to another wildfire between Phoenix and Flagstaff. All the fires we've had so far this year have been started by humans. I just don't get it.....

Morning.  Crazy day.  Text asking to come get haircut ASAP.  Her Mom was in the hospital.  Had to drive 30 minutes to get to the town.  Still go to her as she is single Mom and no child support [hubby dead].  Now errands.  Back injections went well.  One HURT but that was it.  Dr. said hit tight muscle.
BR, have a good festival.
Tom, they don't like people unless they think you are running from them [like on a bike].  Icon_e_surprised   Icon_e_smile
Have a good one.

Greetings, gang.

Cloudy and 65 outside my window this morning. High for today is supposed to be in the mid 70s. Got abut an inch of rain overnight with more on the way.

Quiet day yesterday. Got the laundry caught up, rode the bike (no bobcats chased me), and watched the fishes off and on. This morning is an F1 race followed by NASCAR (or whatever it's called nowadays) on a road course this afternoon. It's not as much fun as it used to be. Now they bring in specialized drivers who understand what a right turn is.

All stay safe.

Tom

Morning.  75 and humid.  Partly cloudy.  Not much on agenda.  Firehouse Foods for breakfast later.  Back a little stiff.  Didn't sleep well after 5:30.  Wiley kept waking me.
Have a good one.

Good afternoon, a bit late for me to post but it is Sunday, a day of rest, and I rested for sure....

Don't know what the temps are like right now, but again, we're not suppose to hit 100 today, but I see a steady climb to 110 by this time next week.

Wildfires are still big in the news, they're hoping for full containment of the big one by July 1, then there are a couple more that have popped up, one still burning along I-17.

Speaking of gas prices, we're now just below $3.00 a gallon ($2.999) in most places, I filled up a few days ago at Sam's Club for $2.909. Not close to what other parts of the country have, even Tucson is way less than we are.

Greetings, gang.

Cloudy, damp, and 61 in the remote reaches of northern Iowa this morning.  High for today is supposed to be in the low to mid 70s.

Two very boring races yesterday.  NASCAR on a road course used to be very entertaining.  Watching the left turn specialists trying to make right turns often led to, umm, lets just say miscues.  Not so much anymore.  Busy day today - Menards, Walmart, gym, bank, and maybe a bike ride.

While doing some research for my upcoming trip I was looking at the Durango station.  Google street view blurs faces and license plates.   Someone with a sense of humor blurred the face of an inflatable Santa.

All stay safe.

Tom

Morning. 87 and 69% humidity. Back still sore. Hope it gets better as headed east tomorrow AM to build and raise stand. Got helpers as the hunting crew is coming to help Fred and self.

Go to Lowes to get rest of 2X4's needed for stand. Got all the rest of the lumber. Use kids' gift of Lowes gift cards to pay. So far, all wood for base and legs has been gift cards.

RE: The Hobo Camp Fire Is going well #VIII.. Stop In!!! - ezdays - 06-24-2019

Good morning everyone, wildfires are still high on the news lists, the Woodbury Fire is the largest in the country right now approaching 100,000 acres. Containment is now around 25%, down from a few days ago because it's spreading in non-contained areas. Over 1000 firefighters are on the line, a pretty dismal start of our fire season. Yeah, we are now into our "Monsoon season" and our, "Wildfire season" as well.

Temps today are forecast from 101 to 104, I guess that's within the allowable guessing window, still a bit lower than average for this time of the year. Humidity is around 6%, no help there for the firefighters.

We are back from one week vacation in the Allgäu. It was a great hotel and we had a wonderful time.
The hotel had fitness center and a thermal bath. I have been a great fan of thermal-bad since many years but I avoided all kind of sport where ever possible.
We were aware of the fitness-center and bought some simple sport cloth to be prepared, initiated by my wife. To my surprise I liked to do the training in the fitness-center and visited it twice per day. We have an appointment with a local fitness-center next week Monday and will continue to do exercises an regularly base.
It is a shame how much my physical fitness has deteriorated over 40 years. My max running abilities are 4.3mph for 3 Minutes until the pulse explodes and the lung burns like hell. I have to fix that!
May be model railroading will get less time in the future.
