Good afternoon folks

It is 56. Clouds are building. They tell us storms will be coming tomorrow.

Pond is still draining. A lot of muck to get out of it. Had the plumber here to fix the outside faucet. Just in time to refill the pond.

Modeling depends on the pond.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Greetings, gang.

Clear and 45 in the remote reaches of northern Iowa this morning. Supposed to be clear and 65 later this afternoon but there's a 20% showers early this evening. Well below normal temperatures will persist for the next several days.

Very quiet day yesterday. Got about a half inch of rain. Only activity other than watching movies was making a pot of chili. How can one pass up such cinematic extravaganzas such as "They Saved Hitler's Brain" or "Revenge of the Zombies"? This morning I'll head to the grocery store and the gym and this afternoon I'll probably walk and/or ride the bike.

All stay safe.

Tom

Good morning and good cheer to everyone here. Getting warmer, suppose to hit 107 according to those TV ladies, a new record if it does, but a lot less than that according to other sources. Should cool down to normal starting next week.

I really feel for the restaurant owners and their employees, they missed the Easter crowd, St. Patrick's Day celebration, yesterday's Cinco de Mayo (a big deal around here), and this Sunday's Mother's Day crowd, all days that they can count on for boosting income. Me, we usually eat breakfast out 3 or 4 times a week so I'm chomping at the bit for restaurants to open next week. Will we have to stand in line to get in, I hope not since that's not an option for us right now. Went to Walmart's senior hour yesterday, got there around 6:15, no lines, easy parking and a normal bunch of shoppers.

So much about the lockdown, I just hope people are able to get back to work and all things return to being normal soon.

Lazy good morning. Rain? What rain. Guessers blew it. Level one for storms. Never came. Screwed up my afternoon. Even a producer friend with biggie station text that to me this AM. Actually in their defense, clouded up numerous times and would have two or three drops each time. Possible showers this afternoon about 5. Who knows.

Specialist says I'm now clear.  90 more days of special meds and then monitor off and on.  OH, my Dr.'s hubby who is a Dr. has had 19. Still recovering at home after hospitalization. She says he still can't breath good.

Now calling for 35 degrees for Sunday morning.  It would be an all time record low for that date. Snow in the mountains possible.  What the heck!

Good afternoon folks

It is 51 and cloudy. They keep saying it will rain but nothing yet.

Recovering from draining and cleaning the pond. I think every muscle in my legs, arms, and back are sore. My son helped with the worst part of removing the muck. Unfortunately two wheels on the wet/dry broke. I ordered replacements from Sears Parts Direct.

I have no idea what I will be capable of doing today.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Things blew the other day. The space heater we use made a funny hot smell and shut off (or was shut off). Then a light in the basement was flickering and there was a problem where it screwed into the socket. I started to replace the socket and didn't have another in stock. So I wired in a wall socket (Bodge!) but the lights I plgged in didn't go on.
Today I did something else and found that the two light bulbs had both blown! So replaced them and part of it works. (Bulbs were twisted fluorescents) Hardware stores may reopen on the weekend.
Took space heater downstairs to work room. It's dead. Took off back which didn't lead to anything useful. 2 different screw heads - Phillips and hex. Couldn't see a way into the box on the bottom. Space heater may turn into end table.
Walk by the river today. It's at the lowest we can remember.

Good morning everyone. Our hardware stores never closed, people need to fix a broken toilet or build that shelf now that they have the time at home. Drove past the Home Depot the other day and there was no line, wasn't sure where the entrance was, the main entrance was closed, the sidewalk was blocked off and there were arrows pointing towards the loading area, but it was fenced off. Confusing for sure, so I just drove off not really needing anything that couldn't wait.

I don't want to sound political, that's not the intent, but we have one state letting dangerous pedophile prisoners out because of the virus, while we have another one jailing folks for opening their businesses early, just trying to stay afloat. Have we gone completely bonkers????? 35 35 35 35 I'm off to Costco today, gotta wear a mask to get in and probably stand in line waiting for someone else to leave, keep your "social distance", but then again, they're saying that most folks with the virus got it from someone at home or in a senior nursing facility.... go figure...

Gunna be another hot day today, could get to 107, a record. Not sure what the record is, some say 103, others say 105, but the MS app has been wrong before. Don't know where they get their data from, but it doesn't surprise me one bit...

Greetings, gang.

Sunny and 42 headed for cloudy and 65 with a chance for some light rain this evening.

I went to the grocery store yesterday morning and ran into my first shortage. They were out of most types of soup. After that I went to the gym. Walked a mile and worked out. After lunch I walked for another two miles and rode the bike for 5 miles. Was going to ride for 10 but the rain started so I gave up on that idea. An acquaintance from Minnesota called last night and we talked for 2 hours and 20 minutes. She talked for 2 hours and I talked for 20 minutes.

Nothing on the agenda for today other than a walk and a bike ride.

Did anyone see the moon last night. Pretty spectacular.

Gas jumped another dime yesterday. Up to $1.74 now.

All stay safe.

Tom

RE: The Hobo Camp Fire Is going well #VIII.. Stop In!!! - ezdays - 05-08-2020

Good morning everyone, another hot one in store for us here. Not sure if we hit a new record yesterday, just not liking this much heat this early.

Got to go to Costco yesterday. Got there before their 9:00 senior opening and some folks were leaving already, so they probably opened the doors early. The line was short and they'd hold it up to allow outgoing shoppers to leave. People rushing to where the paper goods are, no need, they had lots of everything. Maybe not enough to last the day through, but enough. Many items marked as "one per customer per day". Decent parking space, short wait at the checkout line and lines at the gas pumps were short. Got gas for $1.79 even though I still had a half a tank. Lowest gas in my area is $2.09. Are things returning back to normal in stores? Not really, the way they all make you line up and funnel you through one entrance, some, like Costco, insisting you wear a mask or don't get in. I was admonished at Walmart for going the wrong way down an aisle. Yup, grocery aisles are all one-way. Let's hope it isn't this way with restaurants as they open up next week.

Greetings, gang.

Downright chilly outside my window this morning. Right now it's 38 headed for a high of 54 with winds up to about 20 mph.

Made a grocery run early yesterday morning. Later I went for a 3 mile walk and a 10 mile bike ride. While riding I saw a former co-worker. Chatted with her for about 20 minutes. Nice lady. While making supper I ran out of milk. Had to put everything on hold while I made another quick run to the grocery store.

Nothing on the agenda for today other than a trip to the gym and a walk. A little too cool and breezy for a bike ride.

All stay safe.

Started out in the 40's but now 67. 70's today. Possible rain this evening.

Out the door to feed trailer parks and others.

RE: The Hobo Camp Fire Is going well #VIII.. Stop In!!! - tompm - 05-08-2020

Good morning folks

It is 51. Rain is expected. We are supposed to have a cold night. Our temperature is supposed to reach 34. Surrounding counties are under a freeze warning. The mountains are expecting snow. Weird weather.

Pretty much finished the pond. Put the filter in and moved two of the lilies into the pond. There are two more but the containers we bought don't work and we are waiting for replacements. Will let it run for a week and then look for some fish. Probably start with some feeder goldfish.

I finished three cabooses I was weathering. I encountered a problem with four Atlas tank cars I recently weathered. The factory installed couplers kept pulling apart. Upon close inspection I found several were not opening and two were broken. Aparently the stress of being pulled by the locomotive was too much. I had to replace the couplers on four cars with Kadees. This depleted my supply and I have to order more couplers. I am hoping I have enough to work on several Roundhouse express reefer kits.

I hope everybody has a good day.

March has returned. 47 and 25 tonight.
Hello Blue
Our Michigan dicktater has extended the stay at home order till May 28. She is being sued by several sources but knows how long it will take to run through the legal system. Auto plants will open next week putting many back to work. But small business' cant open including restaurants some probably never will.
