Just a note to show that it's been a long while since I did any scratchbuilding. While starting on my new building:

#1, I forgot that I had my CAD page set to 9"= 1' and that my printer would print accordingly. Icon_redface
#2, I went ahead and cut out all 14 window and door openings before I checked one for size. Icon_redface Icon_redface
#3, Reset my CAD page to 12" = 1' and started all over again.   Icon_rolleyes
#4, Severely reprimanded myself for such rookie stupidity. 35
#5, Reminded myself that it's just a hobby and rookie mistakes are OK and correctable. Applause
#6, Thanked myself for using soft plastic sheets that cuts easily with an X-acto knife, rather than using styrene.   Icon_e_biggrin

Been busy building the sporting goods store and as usual, forgot to take some progress pics. Here's a few, I started off with a flat sheet of soft plastic, cut out the windows and doors then made a big jump (a week or so later) to a rough assembly. That "flat" sheet wound up with a slight bow after I cut the pieces out, so I had to glue those wood  beams to keep make them flat again. The city building inspector kind of objected to  curved walls, the tenants might object to big beams against their walls, but hey, I do need to meet city code for a CO, so I do what is necessary.

Nice progress!

RE: The rebirth of the Canyon State RR - ezdays - 01-13-2021

Thanks Mike, I have a solution for my roof. I had a styrene tile sheet and a package of .015 x .040 strips, and so I came up with this. I used acetone to glue the strips in every third tile slot. It kind of resembles a cross between a tile and a metal roof. I did paint it and made an attempt at weathering. It's my second attempt, but the camera intensifies it, even after toning it down, so I'll start over again on that. I also thought I was finished with the body, but after looking at the photos, I decided to remove the windows and doors and straighten and square up the openings. Just looking at it, none of that looked bad, but the camera really points out where you need more work done, and so now, I have yet another chance to screw things up even further. Nice roof!!!

RE: The rebirth of the Canyon State RR - ezdays - 01-14-2021

Thanks guys, I think the roof turned out a lot better than the rest. I took out all the windows and doors yesterday and cleaned and squared up the openings. Now they're a bit larger, but at least they're not crooked. To the eye, they're not bad, we'll have to see what the camera says. Icon_rolleyes

Based on pictures I've seen of myself, I've learned that the camera can be cruel.

Well, done is done, I can't do much more with my old and arthritic fingers, so this is it. All I need now is to plant it on the layout and do some permanent lighting for it.

Thank you Wayne and Lutz, I'm not particularly thrilled with the way it turned out, the window and door openings were a big problem trying to get them straight and square. The more I worked them, the larger the opening became, so I had to stop. Still, it's N scale and at a reasonable distance, it doesn't look as bad to the eye. Just don't get too close..... Nope I will go over the paint job before I plant it, again, the camera shows every little defect so that'll be my guide.
