And a good Saturday morning ta ya all.... Here we are after 8:30 and it's still in the 30's. No complaints after seeing what it's like in other parts of the country.
Again, we're scheduled for rain today, but nary a cloud in the sky right now.
Yes, today is the anniversary of Pearl Harbor and I do remember that and the following days. I was very young at the time and didn't realize the significance of the event, but I do remember standing by the radio listening to FDR make his famous "infamy" speech. I was just reading an article about a restored P-40b that survived the attack. It was recovered back in the 80's and was recently purchased from a British museum by an anonymous buyer that donated it to an organization that flies WWII vintage planes. It cost him a few million dollars, and so it was a great thing to do.
Somehow I wish we could get back the patriotism that we had back then, and have watched it erode little-by-little until, in some places, you can't even fly the American flag, no one says the "Pledge of Allegiance" anymore, and you're not allowed to even bow your head before a school football game. I remember every morning at school, right up through the 12th grade, we'd bow our heads and say the Lord's Prayer, then standing to recite the Pledge of Allegiance, and it hasn't contributed towards making us a generation of bad people.
Why to some think they have to change that which is not harming anyone just to please a few that don't want to comply? This I will never understand....
