Haven't done any huge projects in awhile, so finally got around to working on the final piece of real estate that is available for industries.
Maxwell House Coffee has had a facility on the east side of downtown Houston for many many years. The facility is highly visible from downtown, being the only large multi-story building between downtown and the ship channel. Maxwell House sold the facility to Maximus Coffee Group around 2005. I'll model it as Maximus.
The prototype facility in the same area as the prototype bridges that populate my layout. I hadn't planned on building this one... the idea had fleetingly crossed my mind once or twice, but it is quite complicated and I simply dismissed the idea as being utterly crazy
. But a few weeks ago the decision was made that it can be done.
It's a huge complex. To fit it into the space, the height of the facility was compressed, the warehouse was shortened from 6 boxcar spots to 3, and the length of the main building was shortened to about 3/4 of the real thing
Off to a good start...
