Desktop 3D printers
In the Magazine called MAKE there is an ad for a 3D printer called GIGABOT has a 2x2x2 foot build platform at 100 micron resolution Eek extruding. Every day a new 3D printer pops onto the market 8-) This printer is approaching commercial size and cost wise. on the facing page in a company advertising 2 plastic injection molding machines the cheapest one fits on to a regular floor drill press(not a bench top)for a bit over $500.00 and a bigger self contained unit that will fit on any work bench (no need for any other tool) you can buy several pre made molds for fishing lures and other odds or ends, the molds are aluminum, there are two ways of custom molding one is to have a mold machined for your part(s) or a aluminum hollow mold that will hold an epoxy mold might even hold a silicon RTV mold. You can buy pellets or even reuse plastic soda bottles as a source of raw material.
