Doctor Wayne's addition has added a whole new perspective to this thread.When the Canadian National Railway was created in 1923,the majority of it's locomotive roster was acquired from other railroads including the Grand Trunk Railway,Canadian Government Railway and the Canadian Northern Railway---all their locomotives could be considered as "second hand power".Here's some examples.
