When I get dodgy looking eMail I put the cursor over the name and it shows the address that it was sent from without opening the item. (supposedly; most of the time it works). I'm trying to see how to do this on my wife's iPad as it doesn't have a mouse and touching the name opens it.
My spam filter catches about 80% of them. Plus a few legitimate ones.
