Mystery of the shell not closing has been solved.... One of the lighting connectors that wasn't used was wedging itself between the circuit board and the top of the shell. Moved it and everything fits nicely. Also added a longer Kadee 165 coupler to the rear, it has a rock pilot and the standard 146 coupler was just too short. Here's a shot of the other side after the weathering.
Despite all of the tweaks and quirks, I think this M630 is a very cool addition to the fleet and anyone with an old Stewart C628 or C630 could reap the same benefit of these extra pre-built shells that Bowser built and is offering up for $45. Eventually I do need to get a couple of fuel tank fill tubes to add to each side of the fuel tank.
