I've been working on the turntable tracks. These are more complicated that you would think. Either that or I've complicated the situation myself with overthinking the project.
After I finished laying the three transition tracks to the enginehouse, I checked the alignment a second time. I found out that the tracks from the turntable were about 1/16" too high so I had to figure some engineering on the fly. My solution was to pry up the rails from the tiesabout 6 ties in, then use a manicure file to sand the ties down to where the rails would be equal with the turntable. I had to do the same thing with the other three tracks but there wasn't any rails laid yet. I was able to use the same holes for the spikes and everything went back together fairly easily. I'm going to add some diluted matt medium with a flow enhancer to 'glue' the spikes down into the ties.
This morning I finished spiking the last of the rail down. I had re-painted the sanded-down ties with some polly-s RR tie brown. the two longer tracks have wheel stops glued down on the ends as well.
Next is a good clean-up/tidy of the layout and we'll see where I go from there.
