Thanks again for the comments! I still have a roll of film from that chase to review and scan. This is only the second half of the chase!
I started out on the Tuesday morning scouring Council Bluffs looking for my prey. With a little luck and a little help (Shhh!) I found the train tied down at Madison Avenue waiting for a crew and a track warrant. I was there just after sunrise and ended up waiting about two hours for the crew to show up and get a track warrant. I chased it northeast for the balance of the morning as far as Portsmouth where I broke off and headed over to the Union Pacific mainline around Missouri Valley for the rest of the day.
