Good info for the spray paint and weathering the track. I've got a ton of track to do, and am not particularly looking forward to doing it all by brush. But as you mention, with the closed up room, I am concerned with using spray paint. Still, a little at a time as you did, not that bad. Maybe this will be a good project for fall when it is cooler and I can open the windows and door for ventilation.
