Kanawha Wrote:Did the C&O ever use unmodified USRA Mike's?It appears that the very first Mikado the C&O bought #800 was designed by the American Locomotive Company in cooperation with C&O and it was essentially a rebuild of the 4-8-2 Mountain. The numbers were changed to 900 series then 1100 series then in 1924 1200 was added. Your 2341 was built in 1925 - 26. As far as unmodified USRA mikes goes they acquired some from other roads through mergers which were modified rather quickly. Hope this answers your question.
