I still marvel at the weathering on that yellow cab and chassis ....]

Oh, I think I got it now. You want to know how its done?

- first I sprayed the model with a heavily dilluted white to tone everything down.
- then I brush-painted the rusty chips on.
- brought on rust-colored pigments for the rusty areas and grey-colored pigments on all horizontal areas.
- fixed the pigments with dilluted matte varnish and moved them around a little bit while the matte varnish was still wet.
- overysprayed everything with a light coat of matte varnish.
