Well, here's the last update for now on this thread.
I just finished the last 3 custom models for my collection.
First, the second caboose. I choose a retro design with rivets and more windows. So the style is totally different to the other caboose I have.

Next I made 2 Soutern pulpwood cars from Atlas boxcars, nearly the same way as the Southern build those cars in the 1950th.
I cut the boxcar shell down to the frame and let the end sections in place. Some styrene was used to close the end sections and to form the new floor.
