C&O inherited a few USRA Heavy Mikados when they took over the PM in 1947. They renumbered them, but didn't change the road name, as they scrapped them within 2 years of assuming control. They were primarily used in manifest freight service between Grand Rapids, MI and Chicago, Saginaw, MI to OH and Traverse City, MI to Grand Rapids, MI
