as a way to throw the points...I bought some bike spokes for i think it was $1 each, had a couple of choc-bloc connectors lying around but they aren't expensive and used a straightened paper clip going up through the baseboard to move the point/switch...I think the cost worked out to just under $3 per switch.
Btw...your layout is, for all intents and purposes an Inglenook layout.
