Bachmann locos?

BTW, I have no problem at all with "train-set" quality locos. I have several of these -- a few are from the "Presidents Choice" Loblaws Christmas train sets (from the early-90s to about 2008, our Loblaws grocery chain used to put out an annual Christmas IHC trainset, which was excellent value). Their detail is usually good and their running quality excellent.

I even have a few budget-quality British locos (from Hornby's economically-priced "Hornby Railroad" range) that are excellent. Fairly good detail & excellent running.

It depends who's trainsets we are talking about. In the case of bachmann, they probably beat out Life Like and Model power sets. If they Spectrum sets, even better. However, when it comes to the basic bachmann trainset, i'm thinking Athearn and P1k Sets have them beat. Walthers used to have good sets as well, but I haven't seen them in a while.
