I don't know if Jim comes to this site. I remember a few years ago the club was set up a the Lakewood Mall. It was right after Athearn came out with their first Gp60 model, the one with the standard cabin blue & yellow warbonnet. This gal came by and asked if we had any Gp60's running, and just then one of the guys who modeled intermodal had his train come through with a pair of Gp60's on the point. She mentioned that she worked at Athearn (when they still built product here, before Horizon got involved). She said she was going to tell her husband about our display.
When her husband came by, it turned out he was one of the partners that bought the company from Irv's widow. I introduced Jim to him, and Jim was going to try to show him one of the many Athearn locomotives he had bought over the years. Jim wanted to show him a "stock" unit, but discovered that out of probably over 50 Athearn locomotives he had, not one was left stock! He had detailed or kitbashed every one!
