From there, it is easy to get to DC and you can ride Amtrak's Cardinal the route of the George Washington from DC past White Sulphur Springs, through the New River Gorge, and right into Cincinnati Union Terminal where it once terminated. Another alternative is the annual New River Gorge excursion out of Huntington. I've ridden it once, the year my dad's group leased Milwaukee Road 261 and pulled the train with her.
While the east lacks the operational mainline steam engines (just NKP 765), you don't necessarily have to travel far to see much...especially with the eastern PA and Maryland group: Scranton (Steamtown) is 2.5 hours north of Strasburg (RR & Museum), which is 1.5 hours north of Baltimore (B&O Museum) and Orbisonia (the incomparable East Broad Top) is 2 hours west of Strasburg. Collectively, they have about 80 steam locomotives...and operational steam in each steam.
You layout is looking quite nice. I hope you get some content up on your website too. Ich mochte es!
Yes, the station you mentioned will probably be on my schedule. The B&O museum is a must see for me, the other places are also from interest. I have to choose...
By the way, the first contents has been up-loaded to my website. Gallery#1 has the first pics. This night I will up-date another Gallery.
Under the button Projects I will publish the work steps from the blank wood till the modul ready for operation.
By the way, all of the outdoor photos I have shot with my new mobile device Samsung Galaxy Note, really incredible quality which can beat with some digital cameras.
Greetings
Marco
