Don't neglect a team track, though:
One of the challenges in modeling is to balance visual effect with some kind of variety. A team track gives you the opportunity to spot a wide variety of cars, flats, gons, tank, box, etc., and I see no reason why you couldn't keep one of those as a team track, maybe adjusting the spacing slightly.
It also occurred to me that you can also use the street trackage for occasionally unloading heavy-haul loads like the Bachmann Schnabel car. The transformer would be loaded onto a highway heavy-haul trailer for final movement.
