Matt, I am glad you had 50 inch legs, and that the water stopped there. I am also glad the insurance is not hassling over payments, but as you say, personal items can never be replaced.
You have proven to be a good friend to the folks with the trucking company, and I hope that somehow this kind act somehow, some way is repaid by someone in your favour.
