Good points. Maybe all of us are doing it all wrong.
I think I'll contact that contractor and see what he will charge to build my layout for me. I'm way behind on reading my how-to books, anyway. Might even be cheaper in the long run; I won't have to pay for his mistakes and he can argue the space issue with my wife!
