Greetings, gang.
Clear and 63 outside my window this morning. Upper 70s later. Rain predictions have been changed. No serious rain now until tomorrow night and into Tuesday morning. Guestimates as high as 90% for Sunday night so we might actually get some rain.
Got another batch of acorns sent off to the deer buffet a block north of me and also included some greens for a more balanced diet. Translation - I cut down the hostas and peonies for the season. This morning is laundry and lawndry (mowing the yard). This afternoon is a soccer game for one of the great-grandsons. Hour drive, hour game. hour drive.
Stopped to visit my friend's wife yesterday afternoon. He had gone missing for 19 hours while I was on my road trip earlier this summer. Turns out he had fallen into a neighbor's basement window well. Broke two ribs, punctured a lung, and laid on his right arm for so long that the nerves are severely damaged. He had been mowing the yard and probably suffered from heat stroke or heat exhaustion and wandered. He has suffered from memory issues due to a virus infection for years and apparently it's getting worse.
All stay safe.

Greetings, gang.
Fall is falling. Currently 54 degrees in the remote reaches of northern Iowa this morning. High of only 72 this afternoon with slight chances for some rain. The NWS keeps pushing the higher chances for rain back. Now the heavier rains are supposed to be tomorrow and tomorrow night.
Yesterday went as expected. Household chores completed and a soccer game in the afternoon. Always fun visiting with family. Not much planned for today other than a bike ride this afternoon.
All stay safe.

Good evening folks
The medical procedure went well this morning. I am just getting up and about. The painkillers kept me down for most of the day. Maybe I will wander down to the layout and do some train things.
Weekend went well. On Saturday, we ran errands and did some laundry. On Sunday, we took it easy and lounged around the house. We ran out to the grocery store and PetSmart. Did more laundry.
I ran a train. Since some coal loads arrived, I could add more cars to the train. The final train comprised two Reading RS-3’s, 49 coal cars, and one caboose. You can see the train in action in the video below. In order to reach the 50 cars, I had several cars I had to switch out plastic wheels for metal. I had to replace a bunch of McHenry couplers with Kadee couplers and add screws to the coupler clips on a couple of Athearn and Athearn/Roundhouse cars.
I hope everybody has a good evening.

66 and very humid outside my window this morning. Supposed to get to the low 70s with more rain on the way. We managed to collect just over a half inch yesterday.
The weekend was pretty quiet and the only adventure yesterday was a trip to the gym for some sweating. There's more rain on the way so I may go for a walk with my trusty Ikea umbrella. It will depend on the amount of lightning in the area. Late this afternoon is a football game for one of the great-grandsons but for a change it's conveniently located here in town.
Tom - very cool video.
All stay safe.

Greetings, gang.
Another very humid morning. 66 with 98% humidity. Rain chances start tonight and last through Saturday then turning much cooler with highs only in the 60s.
Quiet day yesterday but I did stop to see a friend who fell in the window well. He's mostly recovered from his injuries except for the right hand. It's curled into a fist permanently. No much going on today. Tomorrow I leave town for a day. Class reunion/80th birthday since we all turn 80 this year.
Gas jumped from $4.03 to $4.44 Yesterday, Fortunately I had filled my car on Tuesday.
All stay safe.

62, breezy, and soggy. Just had a thunderstorm move through. Started around 3 AM and left behind an inch and a half of rain and winds near 25 mph. rain chances around 50% to 60% continuously between now and Monday.
Yesterday was fairly quiet. I did get in a 21 mile bike ride. Then tried a new restaurant last night. Won't be going back there for a while. This morning I need to finish packing and make a trip to the gym. Mid afternoon I'll be heading to Waterloo for a class reunion/80th birthday party. Mainly it's an excuse to get together to tell lies about how great our lives are. Back home tomorrow.
I just looked out the front window and it's really surprising how many leaves are down already. Yuck!
Gas dropped a whole nickel yesterday - $4.39 now.
All stay safe.

Gas prices are crazy... up and down almost every day
heading into cooler weather. Thinking about turning off the A/C for the season.
